Thank you, I knew I was right. You don't want $50? Well I guess I'll keep it.

That is a VERY good deal. I'm jealous...

I just upgraded for Halflife 2 (anything is better than my PII - 266 mhz comp with a voodoo graphics card and 200 megs ram...)

And I'm scared I didn't upgrade enuff (after reading this post) since I only have a GeForce FX 5200.

My full specs are:

PIIII 2.6 ghz - GeForce FX 5200 - 512 megs ram - 120 gig harddisk - Radeon motherboard

is it good enuff to run with highest settings? at 1080x768?

tcwo, newegg, xoxide, frozencpu... basicly all over :D
So far I bought the following just for HL2 (and doom3/stalker of course):
CPU - CPU Cooler - Mobo - RAM (2 sticks of these) - Case - PSU - HDD

I'm waiting on the new video cards coming out and then getting the better. Then to top all of this off, I will be buying the gigaworks s750 next paycheck and I havn't decided on the monitor yet. Then it shall be complete, and I'll be utterly content and reclusive for about a year until it becomes obsolete :x

The cooler is way bigger than I had thought though. I'm afraid it's going to occupy my first RAM slot... but I guess I'll see later on.

Edit: RhapSidious, Shuzer is right. I highly doubt you can run that game on those settings with the claimed framerate. Actually, I will paypal you $50 right now if you can prove it, and I'm not even kidding either because I know you can't. Photochops don't count!

I really like that system, nice price, everything looks good.

The only thing is $80 on a HD but $130 on a power supply? And I have heard crappy stuff about that MoBo. If I was you, id probably get some faster ram, a different MoBo and a better HD. While saving some $$$ on that power supply. But thats just me.

I still need to upgrade...my current system is a...

All-In-Wonder 9800 pro w/128
512 PC 3500
AMD 2800+ XP
2x 160GB SATA's & 1x 200GB IDE

not a bad system, but looking to improve...

Next will probably be...
All-In-Wonder x8xxx w/512
1 GB PC xx00 (whatever my MoBo will support)
Athlon64 xx00
2x 74 GB 10,000 RPM's & 1x 400GB SATA

Those are basically the real meaty parts of the system, of course throw in burners and a monitor, but that stuff is really all that matters.

Waiting on PCI express MoBo's and a the new All-In-Wonder before i update, I just hope they can get it out b4 HL2.

Ok, I usually wouldn't waste the energy, but I hate being called a liar. So I'll give you the evidence.

This might be a bit noobish, but can anyone tell me how to take a screenshot ingame? I've never had to do it before.

I understand people are calling you a liar... but from looking at your system, I have something close to it, and I believe you can run that game at the settings you said.

Thanks for your support.

You configure it in the "Controls" section.. which is usually in the "Options"

Well your comp is over a year old so...but damn, 1700...you must have a real nice monitor.

I see you still havnt learned your lesson...dont get the 9800XT utill the new line of cards comes out, unless you want to be back here saying "I BOUGHT A 9800XT A MONTH AGO, NOW ITS ALREADY $100 LESS!"

I think you got ripped off. Hell, even I probably got ripped off. I paid about 1700(USD, 2300 CAN), but I got

AMD 2200+
120 GB western digital 8mb cache
ATI radeon 9700 Pro
1 gig of Ram
Logitech Z640?I think

And now I look back and think of how much cheaper it could have been to build my computer had I only waited a year. :( oh well. I'll be alright.

The FX 5200s are crap cards. The game will probably run just fine considering you have a fast processor, but you're not going to get all the pretty visuals simply because the card won't be able to handle it.

You claim you have that computer and you don't even know how to take a screenshot? Don't even take a screenshot of the FPS, hell just take a screenshot of your My Computer -> Properties window and your video card settings window (right click desktop -> properties -> settings -> advanced). When the window is open, hold ALT and press the Print Screen key on your keyboard. Then, in MS Paint or some other such program, paste it and save it.

Yeah, the HD will probably be replaced with raid 0 raptors soon enough and I'll use the 80 GB Maxtor on this computer I'm on now. Also, the PSU was bought about 3 months ago, but it's working like a charm. The mobo I bought because of the review I read about it on HardOCP which made it sound pretty good, and I'm too impatient to wait for the newer nForce3 250's to come out. Faster RAM usually costs more, and I'm just used to 3200 lol. But yeah I agree, if I could do it over I would probably change a few things :)

Well if its all working, thats all that matters. I know with the comp I have now, some parts were bought b4 others, so theres a few mis-matches in here, but ay, if its running good thats all that matters.

LoL, the XT cost more then the whole computer.

By the way, why do people buy XT's? They cost alot more then a regular 9800 pro, but have a small improvement in speed?

I guess for the sake of "having the best" and for bragging rights, thats all I can think of
