High ping (over 200) on foreign servers

I have a 256kb/s connection. Recently something got messed up and my connection crawled at 30kb/s but the provider fixed it quickly. However I get high pings on servers where I had normal ping (as for me about 100) before. On servers that are in my country I get the same ping as before (60-80) but on any foreign server pings go above 200, while they were at ~100 before. What can be the cause? My transfer while downloading files is the same as before..

My ping is ALWAYS 200+ on overseas servers, I've been playing like this my entire life.

Edit: And there aren't any local servers for most games, so i'm stuck playing foreign.

I am not talking about overseas servers. I'm talking about servers for example in the Netherlands (about 800km from Poland). There are these urban map servers for BF2 where I had about 100ping, now I have about 230.

Probably more hops than before, or certain routes are not being used as they were before.

I called the ISP and they said that more ppl have been complaining and it seems something is wrong with the route/servers on the German border, but it's not responsible. I'm kinda pissed. So what now? I can't play on all the servers west of my location?

Some servers are just not good, the servers themselves may be crap, or the connections are.

I have a 100mbps VDSL and it gives me 150+ for US, 200+ for UK.

ping being high can be caused by your computer also if its slow
