My attempt to add a mustache to the hi-res skin just makes him look like he has a dirty sanchez.

You shouldn't add highlights to skins, they should remain neutral since in a game there are going to be lights. I also didn't like the fact that they shaved off Cubbage's mustache, so I edited it back in. Though I haven't tested how it looks yet.

You nailed it there... the highlights added in the textures are out of place. In well lit environments the skins becomes extremely glossy, which adds to the fakeness. it should not have any specularity or gloss... also, alyx' lips are too big now.

I'll see if I can edit out the highlights and restore some stuff credit ti the ones that did the skinpack, but it seems they overdid it

Alyx looks completely different... :O , surely thats illegal. I prefer valves lower res skins.. they fit in better with the rest of the body.

I've figured it out! The G-Man is a pimp, the G stands for "Gangsta" and you can barely remember anything in ten years because of all the tequila you did as well as the pain in your ass. Remember he said "You've done a great deal in a small time".

Cubbage, Shepard and Gordon are all his whores!

Looking at the shots, it didn't look like they shaved Cubbages mustache to me.
It looked like they just thinned it out and made the hair lighter.

The shots are decieving it looks completely removed in game.

And I fixed it up a bit. It seems flat but that's because the original character "Odell" didn't have a stache. I also added back in that red tint because it didn't seem like Cubbage without what seems to be a case of rosacea.

Those look allright, but too shiny and unreal. I mean, the whole point of Half-Life 2's graphics was that they looked very downbeat, gritty and actually real. Unlike, say, Doom 3.

hmm he seems to have fixed some stuff in that later version, however alyx still looks too dolled up. I'm fairly sure it would be hard coming by moisturizers and makeup in a post apocalyptic earth

The female skins look too plastic for my tastes. The male skins though, look really great! Expasually Breen.

thanks for those comparisons, i see what you mean. Still, with alyx anyway, it really does look like they've thrown some lube on her lips! Either that or she's just finished giving head (minus the bukakke).

At anyrate, they're nice improvements. I'll download 'em put alyx into some porn positions since i'm bored..

I like seeing Mossman and Alyx all dolled up and lookin hot. I mean why not, it's a video game? They should make every girl in it hot just because they can. Sort of like TV - there aint that many fugly chicks on it - Look at G4TV, even that host for "Cheat" is bangin hot... I would imagine they didn't choose her for knowledge of video games.

I never thought Alyx looked that good.. she looked OK but she was more of a cool chick than a hot chick.
