Anybody on HL2.net listen to hip hop or rap.
I usually don't, but I must say, there are a few good ones
-Jon Young
-Snoop Dogg
-Tupac

You listen to some pretty shitty hip hop.

At the moment, i'm really enjoying...

A Tribe Called Quest
De La Soul
People Under the Stairs
some Aesop Rock
Danger Doom
and Jurassic Five

Some more underground artists I enjoy:

atmosphere
Louis Logic
Jemini
aesop rock
del the funkee homosapien (better known as the guy who raps in the gorillas)
Sweatshop Union
kool keith (the guy in my avatar)
benefit

No

Some hip hip - not the stupid crunk stuff, or most of the rocafella artists who are unoriginal and whose lyrics suck.
I like
Nas
Lupe Fiasco
The Roots
Roots Manuva
Big L

I actually like some of Dr Dre's and (earlier) Eminem's work. The rest is pretty generic to me.

I listen to a bit of hip-hop now and then, mostly instrumental hip-hop by the likes of DJ Shadow and Dan the Automator, as well as a few old classics like Coolio's 'Gangsta's Paradise', and a few other artists as well, like Del tha Funkee Homosapien and Gorillaz.

im sorry but i just can't stand british accents. I only like them in documentaries but that's about it. They always sound really whiny, lame and annoying.

...says the Canadian :p
(Before you say anything I'm not from Belfast or Derry so you have no idea what my accent is like :D)

I agree though, cockney accents suck, innit?

i don't really like rap, never did. i'm a friend of old rock/metal

For anyone who can dig experimentation, hunt down a copy of Subtitle's Young Dangerous Heart.

No joke, best hip hop/rap album I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. For Autechre-esque groove his collaboration with Adlib as Lab Waste is near perfection too.

Other recommendations:

MF Doom/Dangerdoom/Dangermouse/Madvillian
Madlid/QUASIMOTO <---
Edan
Why?
J Dilla
Percee P
Lootpack
Pharcyde
MED
Roc C I suppose

Check out the entire Stones Throw record label for more.

And do yourself a favor and grab the Chrome Children releases. But more than anything check out Subtitle in his prime. It's beyond anything I've ever heard.

I just wiki'd Subtitle - he's got a pretty impressive track record with artists. Touring with The Mars Volta, Dalek (on the subject, Dalek are damned good. Seeing them this summer :D), Islands and Autechre... I'ma go check him out.

Kool G Rap
Kool Kieth
K.M.D
KRS-1
+ rza, gza & ol dirty bza etc.
Big L
Biggie
Brand Nubian
Black Moon (enta da stage)

& thats just for letters K & B!

i love all genre's of music, but i think 'rap' can be awesome. I love all of Hip Hop's main disciplines (Breakdancing, Rap, Turntablism, Graffiti).

I saw Grandamster Flash live, he was so awesome, my best DJ experience by a long way. Ive seen DJ Krush, DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, they are really groovy:rolling::rolling:. I saw the Gza solo live, he was ok (i shook his hand!) but I think live, rap can be a bit meh, but not always :). I saw Jurassic 5 and Run dmc (with JMJ) and they were both really good.

I can understand the haters, i use to hate it when I was younger (but i always loved RATM:p, this was when i was a complete metal head, and HATED it when my mate use to say they were a Rap band, lol!). Wu tang and dj shadow (& a bit of the waccy baccy!) got me hooked!, but i broadened my tastes in general as i got into my 20's.

A personal favorite of mine is Kid Koala, his Live on the Breezblock mix is so funny!

Im a pretty big fan and collect vinyl, much of it is rap. I love the artwork on the sleeves, i have some cool KMD stuff. Im pretty knowledgeable about mix tapes & stuff (DJ Spinbad, 'that' biggie mix tape, shadow ones, Coldcut etc), if you think it might be worth it, PM me and i'll point you at a few things you might not of heard of!

I listen to rap and my favorite rappers are:

1. 2Pac
2. Lil' Wayne
3. The Game
4. T.I.
5. Young Jeezy

There's more but can't name them all, and these are my top 5 favorite.

I'm going to amend my first post in this thread. I've recently been getting more and more into hip hop, and, like Antipop, I pretty much enjoy anyone on the anitcon label.

That's funny someone posted this. We just started a hip/hop/rap group at my college. It's completely non-serious at all, actually it's funny as **** so far. I should probably do hw, but this is more fun. By the way, we're all white...

Oh man, I'm so glad this thread was bumped. I remember adding this to a mental note in my brain to aquire but I never got around to it. I got really into Subtle, but I've always remembered someone of a similiar name recommended to me.

Gonna get right back on that.
