History repeats itself...

The posts in this forum from one year ago make rather interesting reading. It's full of rumours about the release dates & causes of delay, speculation about HL2dm & threads entitled "will you buy retail or via steam?", just like right now! Suprisingly little has actually changed in a year, we're still no closer to a relase date people trust...

This is not inteded to be an angry thread I just find it amusing that there's been so much discussion about so little, and that people are going round in circles. If the game isn't realesed soon I fear for your sanity!

It would be too easy to ridicule people's blind faith in the 30/9/03 release date with the gift of hindsight but this really did make me laugh when I saw it:

My point that I find it interesting how similar it is, there are threads like "what are you going to do when hl2 is released" that are like carbon copies. I wasn't intending to mock us!

Ok, so it's not the best thread ever, it makes a change from rants about hl2dm. At least one (other) person found it remotely interesting...

What annoyed me about last year is people not believing the release "until they heard something from Valve". I mean, is an e-mail to multiple sites not enough?

But I can understand people not wanting to believe it, based on the general mentality of the board (a mentality we haven't quite escaped).

All I did back in those days on this forum was yelling how sure I was that the game really was going to be released at 30th september and that the leak was fake.

I know.. I'll make up some big bs story about how they are going to release HL2 via steam 2 weeks before it's release 'but encrypted' and then enable it on the 30th. I think the latest news from gamespot is more in line..
