OMG, gotter, chill man, you guys have to admit that Halo is one of the greatest games of the 21'st century. And I can admit that I will never forget Mario and Donkey Kong. Especially Mario, I own every Mario game starting from the classic nintendo donkey kong. The only one I dont have is Mario 2 which I heard wasnt all that great in the first place. There are other places where mario and Kong are commemerated. Seriously, believe me, there are tons of people out there who respect Mario and Kong, those are the games that led up to all the good crap we have now.

I wouldn't call half of those game's the best games ever made, they pioneered their respective genre's, but that doesn't make them the best. Still Halo/Master Cheif didn't pioneer anything and it certainly wasn't a better game than some in that list.

I played Halo for about 1 hour and never started it up again. Just didn't grab me like HL, Deus Ex, SS2, Civ series, Privateer, Red Alert, C&C et al did.

It's worth persevering.

I wasn't too keen on Halo at first - but once you are good enough to play on Legendary the game truly opens up. (single player Halo has lasted me longer than every single player pc shooter put together )

My point is that in all that's been in the video game world in the last 20-24 years, the best these people could come up as infuential is Halo? Halo was graphically superior in it's time, and it was good, but hardly as influential as other icons.

My list of 6, in order, would be:

#1 - Mario (There is no single character that has been in as many games as Mario, not even close)
#2 - Civilization 2 (I mean, jesus, I played this LAST WEEK. Noone can tell me they'll be playing Halo that long. I still consider it the best game ever made.)
#3 - Doom (Halo wouldn't even be around if it wasn't for Doom, neither would Half-life)
#4 - Final Fantasy (The beginning of the most influential series of RPGs ever, and the first really good RPG, in my opinion)
#5 - Half-life (And no, not because this is a HL message board. If you look at the FPS genre since, you can't miss HL's influence. It changed a lot of opinions and ways of thinking about the FPS. especially when it comes to expandibility and replayability, in the form of MODs)
#6 - Megaman (When I think side-scroller, I think Megaman. And he'd probably come second to Mario when it comes to game appearances.)

I don't think HL deserves top spot either, but does deserve a star. I'd say that the top spot title belongs to Mario, Doom, or Final Fantasy, and I don't even like FF games but I know it did A LOT for the RPG industry.

You've gotta admit though, if Halo had been released on the PC first it wouldn't have received half of the attention it got on the X-Box, and why is that? Because it is definitely the best FPS you can get on the X-Box and arguably the best game on the X-Box. it wouldn't have held up nearly as well in the PC market, because on the PC it's pff, average!

This "gaming walk of fame" is hardly perfect, they should have a walkway for each platform! (Lot's of little walkway's instead of just one big one).
