In anticipation of the near release of Half-Life 2 I've been playing through the first one again, as I'm sure many others have. While it's still a awesome game it definitely shows it's age in many places, and the sound would be one of them. Since Valve isn't going through the trouble of redoing the textures in source I doubt it'll happen, but I'm wondering if anyone knows if they will redo the audio? While the music sounds great since it's streaming off the CD, some of the sound effects and especially the voices are of a much lower quality compared to today’s games. Do they still have the original audio recordings which they can use to "remaster" the sound to the point where its clear, without the noise that was introduced by the compression? It seems like one aspect of the Source port nobody has mentioned and it would be cool if they did improve it.
