Well in Half-Life we had the tentacle, in Opposing Force we had the Pit Worm, now what big monster do you think we have to take on in Half-Life 2? Do you think we will have to do a number of tasks to kill it a special way like the others or just use all the weapons we have to take it down?

knowing valve, probably a huge moster, or possibly machine, and we will have to go through various puzzles to defeat it (the tentacles scared me to death!)

or we might have to fight the Combine Citadel itself, or maybe even Gman! this is all just speculation of course

Maybe the hydra is just a part of an even bigger monster?

yea, The momma Hydra would be cool. just like the Gongarch/momma headcrab.

a cool giant machine would be cool. imagine... a huge dark warehouse, with half of the floor caved in, and a huge giant arm flying out of the darkness to claw you back into its abyss...

They's smart babies though. :)

It doesn't look like the hydras are going to be "search for the three switches" type enemies though. I'd guess they'd keep it a secret, but they did release pics of gonarch before HL1 came out, so who knows.

Looking at this picture made me think.

The thing at the top, "King Pin" has a tail that looks just like the hydra. I know they didn't ever use the King Pin in HL, but mabie it will be part of HL2?

And there's the fact that these pictures are right next to each other.

Hey, that'd be a good player model... a GABE one! Hah.

But it would take so much pixles!! the game would lag so much!

Actually I think i've seen gabe in one of the doom3 screeshots.

It's quite Ironic that you people make fun of gabe when the most likely reason gabe is overweight is because of all the stress and hours gone into making Half-Life 2, a game that brought you all here in the first place.

yeah i hope his next project is half-weight 2..

on topic: what is that hydra made of ? Energie? Bluish goop? Gluish boop?

Looks like its made out of some weird blue transparent skin, I mean, you can see its intestine things and bones and stuff.

Emm..
Randy!

like from that Abyss movie, the alien thingy controls water and can attack people with it.

Hey, what if the hydra is on your side? Wouldnt that be cool, like its a pet for Dr Kliner or somethin? Heh wouldnt that be the sweetest shit ever?

I find it wierd that the hydra would be some big monster you have to kill. They are a real creature in real life and arnt very strong at all but then again they are very tiny in real life.

Well, its not like it would be much fun fighting a microscopic creature now would it? :dozey:

I don't think that the hydra in Half Life 2 is quite the same as the one that you might find in a pond in real life...

Possibly not. Despite that, I am now looking forward to Pond-Life 2.
I hope HL" has more crowbars in it. I used to use it all the time in HL1, even on hard mode.

And another thing. There should be a monster that has to be killed by jumping on it's back, shotting a giant hole in it (starship troopers style) and crowbaring it's vertabrae to death. Hey, it worked with Nihilanth (ever tried that? When his head opens up, jump in it and crowbar him).

I WANT TO SEE GARG
MAN, THIS ALIEN GIVES ME FEAR!!
Lots of adrenaline when he's running towards you !!!!

I think it'd be pretty hard killing one of the Combine Gunships.

*edit* IF you didn't have a RPG :p

I don't think the hydra controls water, you can't stab someone with a liquid.

If you look at the concept art, you can see some organic material inside the hook thing. I think it looks just like water so it can blend into the water.

Actually, technically, you can stab someone with water, it just has to be going fast enough...

A high velocity water jet, strangely, has similar propeties to a bar of iron...

Pressure is the key, really, the water pressure has to be high enough. What if the hydra's fluid content is surrounded by some sort of natural force field?

The final boss is the citadel itself. It sprouts legs, and has to be destroyed by a thermo-nuclear device
