HL1 Mod Confusion

Hey,

I have the original hl1 (not source) game disk. I'm Wondering if i can use that to get hl1 mods for garrysmod.

My question is this "if i have original half_life on disk do i need to buy it off steam to get mods"

If you still have the CD key you can input it to your steam account and it will add Half-Life to your games list. Garry's Mod is a Half Life 2 mod and you will need HL2, not just HL, to play it. Same goes for all other Source mods.

Will what work on GMod? What do you mean by "hl1 mods for garrysmod"?

HL1 and Garry's Mod have nothing to do with eachother. And like Ennui said, you do not need HL1 to play Garry's Mod but you do need HL2.

You do not need anything from HL1 to do anything in Garry's Mod. You can't run any HL1 content/mods in Garry's Mod or HL2.
