those are just the preview boxes. EB and gamestop and the like have them all the time for some of the bigger games. i was looking at one at the store the otherday, ther kinda crummy. valve will make sure the real boxes are awsome, and the special edition one is teh jawsome.

I just came back from the Game Store, I asked my friends, they said A guy at valve stated that the release date will be 30 of sep. but the upcoming games table at the game store shows that HL2 will hit stores on the 11 of Nov...........very ODD........I asked em about the table and said they are not 100% sure of the actual date, but he said next week we will have the fixed date of the game.

I really don't like any of the 'mugshot' HL2 boxes I've seen so far, the HL boxcover artwork is much more stylish.

The boxes are similar to those displayed at E3, which Gabe Newell has confirmed as being authentic/official.

Actually, one of them was plain silver only with the HL² logo on it. And I think this box will be a limited edition or something (it's been discussed, for sure, hehe)

Yeah, the silver one is the limited or special edition; that's the one I'm going to get if it's released simultaneously with the normal versions and if the artwork isn't changed at the 11th hour.

Damn, they're even uglier than I remembered and I don't like the faces on the side of the limited edition either.
Now that I'm on the subject of artwork, I'm also compelled to say that I don't like the HL2 logo much at all - the Lambda symbol is still forceful but the surrounding outline and the addition of the "2" look kinda cheap to me.

To think that the HL box and logo are among my all-time faves...

Ehm the silver thing isnt that the back of the box? just a thought. Becuase that is what i think.

Seems to me that it's silver back and front, with the faces of Gordon, Alyx and the G-Man on the sides.
