HL2 AI gone dead...

I've searched through the forums for any help with this problem but with no luck, however, if I have missed the solution I apologise for posting this repeat problem.

When in the Entanglement level, after the first turret scene, we (Alyx and me) get to Mossman, as Alyx opens the door to Dr. Mossman they both stand staring at each other and nothing happens. All the doors are locked and theres nowhere I can go. From walk throughs it seems they're supposed to have some big chat but, instead NOTHING... Help me, please! I'm desperate. I've tried re-installing and bringing my old save games across, doesnt help. I've also tried going from a little way back and playing through, but still nothing. Any ideas?

Try those things again. e.g. reloading from an old save, or chapter, perhaps attempt to noclip around that area to start a trigger. Or maybe try ai_disable in the console, turning it on then off.

If you do in fact have an illegal copy, theres nothing you can do.

(try validating your HL2 files first actually, you may have a corrupt file which is stopping the game from working properly)

Try typing restart into the console. (No prizes for guessing what it does)

i've actually had the same problem once, alyx stared at me and just wouldn't move, just after the time she gives you the gravitygun and climbs up the "roof?"
it actually worked ok for the first time but then...
oh and one more thing, i've had the problem that characters don't act as real as they should, like you get to a group of resistants and just one of them talks, others don't even move.
i dunno the problem...
