HL2 Bundled with CS:S and HL:S

Don't know if repost or not, i did try to search.

I was watching G4/TechTV yesterday and they said that they had an exclusive from Valve, which was that Gabe told them that HL2 would come bundled with CS:S and i believe HL:S.

I thought all the goodies like Half-Life: Source were being reserved for the Collector's Edition. If HL:S is coming with vanilla Half-Life 2 then that just killed one of my major incentives to get the CE.

maybe, the original HL: DM on HL:S will have multiplayer? so if it does, i'm sure valve will want to cook up something good instead of just HL2: DM.

No, it was stated in an interview that HL:S will not have a multiplayer like its original DM at launch. Maybe that will change. However it kind of would make ense if HL:S comes w/ HL2 becasue he said "at launch" almost as if he ment the hl2 launch. Who knows?

It should be pretty easy to get out of the pre-order, especially if you're just switching to another version of HL2. The original source doesn't really seem to say whether HL:S is going to be shipping with all versions of HL2, so it's still very possible for it to be only in the CE.

As for this news, I sure hope it's true!

CS:S might be bundled in it's own box entirely to give the impression of "omg you are getting mucho bango for your buck"..

That's complete BS, sorry.

It's been confirmed that CS:S will be shipping with HL2. Plus how can HL:S be sold as a seperate product? It's just a source port. They haven't redone anything like models, maps, or textures. It's going to look the same as the original HL. Until a mod team decides to redo it, it's not going to be anything special.

Cliffe was pretty clear in a couple of interviews that CS:S will ship *in the box* with HL2. I take that to mean that HL2 won't go gold until CS:S is ready.

i doubt they would put all the same models back into hl:source. Like cs source it will probably get a huge graphics upgrade. Plus i heard that they were adding a few small things to take advantage of the physics.

I highly doubt that it will get a graphics upgrade. In my opinion there's no way that Valve has time to totatally remake the original HL. That would be a huge effort. Plus in an e-mail from Valve they said that they upgrades to HL:source wouldn't really be visible. So don't get your hopes up.

I wouldn't be surprised if their original source models were more detailed than what was actually shipped with HL1, so they could pretty easily up the poly count for HL:S, but more detailed textures would be very time consuming to create. I do however think that Valve has more tricks up their sleeves than just CS:S, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if HL:S has a full graphical upgrade (and maybe even some more reliance on the new physics...

I'm sorry, but there is just absolutely no chance of that happening. There is no way at all that Valve has had time to do something like that.

You can of course believe it if you want, but just don't be disapointed when it doesn't happen.

A guy can dream! Maybe not a "full graphical upgrade" but at least have it look better than HL1 did...

they might stick in the new vautigaunt models or something? and make some more scientist models so everyone doesnt look the same (making Eli the guy at the start that lets you through the door, the only time he appears). i should think that'd be it.

By porting it they allow a mod team to easily update the graphics to HL2 quality. I believe there is already atleast one mod team that is planning to do this for the HL1 single player.

I read somewhere a while back that valve wont be updating HL:S's graphics...they were going to *leave that up to* the mod teams. Eh...
