Hl2 Crash

Can anyone tell me where I can download a patch to stop my hl2 crashing.

I just get the windows message stating the game had a serious error.

Heaven forbid, I've never done such a thing myself, but I keep hearing that people who acquire HL2 through anything other than the regular Steam route end up with endless problems. Suppose it goes to show their protection works, right?

BTW, I have no problems with Steam. So far, anyway.

Well, considering you need Steam even if you bought retail, then there isn't any other alternative.

i was trying to see if he had a pirated game or not... they have millions of bugs and if he has steam he'd probably know that steam fixes bugs and such and that there are no "patches" for games ran on steam.

If you have xfire on, that may be the source of the problem. I have no idea why, but xfire always seems to **** up single-player games for me.
