*NOTE* I've posted this in a few forums, it's 100% speculation. Read at your own risk.
Well, I've been looking through the source, and I've been found out some new info about HL2. Note that this info are mainly from filenames, so theres a good chance I'm wrong about some weapons/vehicles.
I'll post a more detailed report later, I got to head to class.
Counter-Strike:
- Counter-Strike *might* be released with HL2 at launch. The CS code is in the HL2 source. There are no new weapons so far. The only difference is an 'assault suit' which is just kevlar and a helmet. It seems though that the assualt suit as a coresponding .mdl file with it. Maybe if you were body armor you can see it on the player?
- Contains CS Bot code. Thats a no-brainer, we knew this from the beta.
- Comments in the CS Code talk about implementing ragdoll effects, not really a suprise. There's a lot of code, I just skimmed through it, probably more CS info there.
Half-Life 2:
- Here are some of the HL2 grenade-type weapons: AR2 (secondary machine gun grenade?), Beam, Bugbait, Brickbat, Energy, Frag, Hopwire, Molotov, Satchel, Scanner, Spit, Tripmine, Tripwire. Some of these names are vague, so whether its a grenade or something else remains unknown.
- HL2 items: Ammo, Antidode, Battery, Healthkit, Longjump, Security, Suit.
- A ton of NPC files, including monks, assasin, Barney, Combine, crane driver, stalker, bullsquid. There are also vehicle names including as npc files.
- Vehicles: Airboat, APC, Chopper, Crane, Jeep, JetSki.
- HL2 Weapons: Binoculars, Brickbat, Bugbait, CGaurd, Crowbar, Extinguisher, Flaregun, Frag, Gauss, HGM1, Hopewire, IceAxe, Immolator, IRifle, Manhack, Molotov, PhysCannon, Pistol, Rollerwand, RPG, Shotgun, Slam, SMG1, SMG2, SniperRifle, SticklyLauncher, StunStick, Thumper, Tripwire. In the code there are comments which explain the primary and secondary function of each weapon, I haven't look at them all, I'll update this with more info.
- There are a lot of HL1 references, like folders are files. Not sure what this means.
Team Fortress 2:
- TF2: Here are some classes: Chooser (maybe not a class), Commando, Defender, Escort, Infiltrator, Medic, Pyro, Recon, Snapper, Sniper, Support.
- Some words found in TF2 source, what they mean is in question: Burst rifle, Charged Plasma, Laser Rifle, Base Shield, Plasma Grenade Launcher, Combat Shield, Drain Beam, Flamethrower, Gas Can, Grenade Rocket, Limpet Mine, Mortar, Harpoon, Infiltrator, Laser Designator, Minigun, Repair Gun, Rocket Launcher, Shield Grenade, Two Handed Container.
- TF2 Vehicles: Battering ram, Flatbed, Motar, Motorcycle, Siege Tower, Tank, Wagon, Teleport station. 'Walkers': ministrider, strider.
- Other interesting words: Armor Upgrade, meteor, gasoline, vehicle bay, Builder, Hole, and Warrior 'bugs'. Shield wall, Four Wheel Vehicle, Barbed wire, buff station, dragons teeth, emp generator, manned missile launcher, power pack, rally flag, vehicle boost, mobile shield.
- TF2 'objects': Manned gun, Base Driver Gun, Base Upgrade, Driver Machine gun, Manned PlasmaGun.
Again, I've only looked at filenames, the actually code has comments that will help explain some items, like usage and primary and secondary fire. More on that later. There are some strange things though, like in the HL autorun code it have a registry entry 'Half Life Day One'. That was the original HL1 demo wasn't it? Odd. Either way, I have a hard time believing this is fake, and if it is, excellent job to whoever did it.
