HL2 Deathmatch Freezing

I open Deathmatch and click on the Join a Server button, its open, then says Lokking for Servers (at the bottom left). Then it freezes- no servers come up, I cant click other buttons, I cant even bring up Task Manager.
What do I do?

OKay could you run Halflife 2 fine? If so that would rule out graphical problems.

I keep thinking a firewall problem, but thats unlikely.

Try validating your HL2DM files first

steam://validate/320 (put that into start,run)

That'd happen to me due to zone alarm. just went in the programs list and made sure Hl/steam had checks next to them. may or may not be your prob :cheers:
