Hi guys, this is my first post! Anyway, I just noticed this petition for a HL2 demo, now get to signin', that is if you want... :afro:

No, because:

1. I'd rather have them working oh HL2, fixing bugs and whatnot.
2. The first time I load up the game, I'm not gonna stop. And when I get HL2, it won't feel like "Such a big deal"
3. #1 deserves 2 slots because we need HL2 now. :)
4. They're probably working on E3.

I WOULD sign it, but it's not with my interest and works against my hopes.

This won't work... Valve doesn't care that much about the beta that the mass histeria will soon brake out..

Sigh.

There will not be a demo. Internet petitions are super duper dumb.

That said, welcome to the forums! :)

^^^Well I think he said there would be a demo afterwards the release, but this is for b4 release, oh and thanx SMT.

Keep dreaming, Even with 1 000 000 Signatures, Valve won't release a demo before the game hit the shelves. Even if you ask George W. Bush to order Gabe to release a demo or he'll drop a bomb on the Valve HQ, Gabe won't release it.

Gabe said that there MAY be a demo released after the game comes out. But a demo is used to promote the game and all they really need to get the word out about it is a screenshot. So they dont need to bother with a demo. It would waste their time.

Noone can refuse the power that is petition online!

...and then i wake up. Am i going insane doctor?

What about some sort of tech/test demo? Something to help find bugs in the engine or requests on what they would like to see in the game or added to the source engine.

There is no demo, or no beta.
There is a "Leaked Version"
But there is no demo or beta.
(Demo = NOT ILLEGAL, usuallys shows a small portion of the game.)
(Beta = NOT ILLEGAL Almost Complete or better, in witch people test the game and report bugs)(Beta can be illegal if it's a closed beta and dled of the net illegally)
Leaked Version = A stolen version from the Creators. Usually is illegal onless for some weird reasons the creators decide to say: We dont care if people dl it and play it. It dosn't bother us (Which would be...screwed up...)

Wrong.
There's no leaked version, either. Leaked would imply that someone who had authorized access to the file-tree made a copy and handed it out to someone (whether it be a friend, distributor, etc)

HL2 was stolen by an outsider via unauthorized access
Thus the term "stolen build" :)

What if the hacker is Gabe's split personality, Gabe Oldwell. How would they try that in court, eh? Eh?

Mullinator slaps Shuzer for being a smart ass.

Anyway...
If you want to throw away valuable seconds of your life then sign the petition. Since when do people want Valve to concentrate on making a demo for us when they should be spending that time finishing up the full game? If you decide to sign this as some way of punishing Valve for the delay and milking a free demo out of them then just remember that what people want is for the full game to be done as early as possible, in which case they don't want Valve working on a demo until later.

If you are someone who wants a demo so that you can try the game before you buy it then just remember that Valve has said that they may release a demo after the game is done.

I don't think Gabe's going to really notice 10 signatures...

I don't really want a demo right now. It would spoil HL2 too much for me. Unless, of course, it was an entirely new story. Then I'd reconsider.

I want a petition to encourage not releasing a demo. I seriously think this game would be better just jumping into it without having played a demo. Plus they should really focus on the full game rather than a demo. Besides, the game already has such a large fan base that it doesnt need a demo.

i think there a bit busy right now, making a demo as a good demonstration for ur product takes the same ammount of playtesting and Q&A that valve are currently doing with the full game, it would divert time and energy from getting the game itself out the door, this is one of many reasons they would wait till after the games released before even considering it.

lol, it would be a petition competition to see who got the most signatures. It sounds like an interesting internet battle.

Online petitions do sometimes work online, ive seen it happen before first hand where they made a petition to release House of wax on DVD and because of all the signature it was released but they rarely do work and asking for a Demo before its even released is asking for way too much in my honest opinion.

The kind of petitions do not work, simple as that. Valve could care less about a few signatures on some site, they know what is good for their business, not the people that sign a petition. It does work if the petition is for releasing something on DVD as mentioned in the above post as the publisher knows these people that sign it will buy it. Last time I checked you can't buy a demo.

first, valve should work on the game, then they should release a demo (if they want)

i think valve underestimates the popularity they would recieve just buy releasing 1 screenshot, and its not that hard to snap a screen. them releasing a demo would be worse in the long run. sure its what people want, now. what valve is doing is raising the suspense. there getting you riled up for the big one. relax a demo wont release untill after the release, end of story.

No Demo!!!

What he said. I'd rather just enjoy the release of all the anticipation in one sitting, and not have to start all over again when HL2 comes out.

We could get 800,000 signatures and we still would not have a chance of seing a demo before the game was released.
