HL2 Demo...?

How many believe that there might be an HL2 demo...

I would like to have a demo.

I am sick of buying high priced games that have great 'sponsored' reviews but end up collecting dust. These days I generally get a copy check the game out and then buy, did that with Unreal II and saved some money.

IMO this 'no demo' phase of the gaming industry is a backwards step, ever since players were given a free tryout with ID's Doom was demos shown to be a positive step and a demonstration of confidence by the designers that thier game is good. Why not allow players to try before you buy, or are you sure they will not buy after the actually see the game ?

If its a comparable demo as Hl day one I will gladly play it, since it wasn't there in the game and it had some real nice combat in it.

There definately WON'T be a demo before the game and i doubt they will release an official one after it. The reason being that Valve want you to feel as immersed in the story as possible...if your playing the demo and all of a sudden it says "thanks, now buy the full version" or whatever, that will really deplete from the immersion factor. Half Life games are meant to be played from start to finish, no other way.

VALVE will release something which demonstrates and benchmarks HL2. They will not however release a demo level of the game itself.

Uplink was THE demo, it was just a separate sample chapter that condensed the different parts of the game, rather than being an actual extract. I thought it was excellent.

Exactly, that's why it wasn't really a demo. Cause it didn't have anything from the game, other than some patched up story that didn't have anything to do with the game.

They have stated not before, and only a maybe for after, so I voted as to pre-game, because I will have the game the day it comes out and have no need for a demo.

Yes! Half Life: Uplink was an excellent demonstration. And very fun to play.
