If you're like me and prefer to browse servers before you actually load the game, then you'll be happy to know that ASE added support for HL2DM today. Enjoy. :)

Yeah but Steam is a resource hog, although i do see your point, smaller, less "bulky" applications can do the same job.

Steam isnt a resource hog dunno about you but it never lags me. + you need to load steam to play anyway. So whats the point?

Point is you might prefer to have a smaller application running than Steam. It's not a dig at steam, it's just an alternative. Obviously it also supports more games (not everyone just plays halflife)..other than that it's just preference, nothing more.

... which still brings us to the point that in order to play HL2DM through ASE, you still need Steam running. Boy, instead of one application running, you now have two.

But I'm gonna try this because maybe through the bypass of ASE it will be able to connect to the master server on my school. Can't find servers through Steam there, I might with ASE.

You have the logic of a baboon. You still have to have steam running, so its running 2 applications instead of 1

I think you are missing my point. All seeing eye isn't just for halflife, it's for many games, this way if you have friends playing on other games you can see them.

This means it's a useful tool, because i don't have to load up steam until / if i join them on halflife.

It saves time loading unreal for example checking the server and exiting, then loading up steam checking and exiting...etc.

Steam is a resource hog in my experiance, but hey, if it isn't for you then that's nice. :)

Anyhow, do as you please, doesn't really bother me, it's just the guy who created the thread was letting everyone know that ASE now supports hl2dm, which to me is useful, as i use ASE.

You can browse servers before starting a game with Steam also.

Uh, how can you browse HL2DM servers in Steam without launching HL2:DM first? I didn't know you could do this.

ASE found more servers than Steam for me. When I went to the servers in Steam, it didn't find any finish severs, but ASE found many.

I prefer ASE, seems to find more servers, plus i can use it for loads of other games....

Hmm, I don't see why you would need this ASE thing to view servers, but I guess it's the equivalent of why I don't use Yahoo, MSN, or AIM and I just use GAIM.

ASE also has more filter options. Like Steam has only "Europe" and in ASE almost each country has its own filter. Yup.
