hl2 dont runs in my pc because of the directx

I have the direct x 9.0c, and when i install the hl2, it says that i dont have the correctly version of the directx, and that it isnt going to install it... :S
I have installed the directx version that is in the dvd of the half life2, and i have downloaded the new version from internet, but it the hl2 says the same thing...
What can i do? thanks

i would delete half life 2, delete direct x....download Direct x then install half life 2.....

But usually "deleting" DirectX means you have to reinstall Windows.
