HL2 Fans and Red Sox fans

Disclaimer: This will only be truly understood by the Americans, but anyway...

I've noticed that HL2 fans (like me) are very similar to Red Sox fans (like me). We're rabid, we are really optimistic (this could be the year!) We absoultely sh*t on people who disagree with us.

We love our players/developers when they do good things, but if they mess up (don't make the release date) we'll be all bitter. But even if we're angry we'll instantly forgive the next time they do something clutch.

Our game/team is fundamentally better than some of its competition (Yankees/DOOM) but the other team/game is probably more well known around the world and by people who don't really know what they're talking about.

Most of all, we all care. We care way too much. Red Sox Nation meet Half-life 2 Nation.

edit: oh, and I almost forgot: We despise traitors above all else...fragmaster

Well, I registered on this site for this one thread. I grew up in Boston my entire life and am an avid Sox fan. Every other team out there can suck my ****. (Place any 4 letter word u want there)

In any case, great comparisson. So true as well. Yankees and DOOM 3 SUCK IT.

I'm an Aussie, so I don't really know anything about the Red Sox, but being an Aussie, I'm probably into some sort of sport, right? Nope. I'm a huge HL fan, but I can't say I'm the fan of any sports team at all. Sport seems very trivial and meaningless to me.
