HL2 installed on 2 computers?

I want to install HL2 on my other computer.

Can I do it without getting my Steam account deactivated?

Do I just have to use my existing account or what?
Also, if I do that can my brother use the Editor on that computer while I use it on mine? Will Steam allow two active instances of an account at the same time?

Yes you can install two copies but only one must be used. Otherwise you need to buy another account if you want to use both at the same time.
