it isnt gold because we dont have the full version, there is still one preload to go and that is given to the people who order it from Steam, so when HL2 is released, those who have ordered it from Steam will get the final preload, or at least is what i think

no, steam is gona scratch its ass and maybe yours too you lucky boy. sarcasm aside though, yes you can download it all now and if you want to buy it you can get it all done bar the executable file, which youll get when the game is released

Heh...I was wondering the same. I started preloading a few hours ago and it's now at 85.5%. I'm pretty sure this is all of the preloads combined though....that would make the most sense!

Whatever changes in the final version of HL2 probably won't take up TOO much space so they can just release it over Steam and then be ready to unlock it.

Look at your original Half-Life save files (in the Sierra/Valve/Save folder), some have the HL2 logo

For those of us that preloaded the game but were intending to buy the retail version and use its CD-Key... well what do we do now? We need to purchase to get the rest of the preload but if were buying in stores... any theories?
