HL2 Map and Weapon are not there Need Help!

Alrite,
I recently got HL2 AND HL2 : Loast Coast and Garrys Mod.
There all have the same problem which is most of the map is not appering all i can really see is a see through wire frame type thing.
Also all the weapons dont appear when u get them out.
Some charcters such as zombies or somein dont appear.
There weapons dont appear either.
shall i download direct x 9 or somin like that

2.5 GHZ
512MB RAM
NVDIA GFORCE4 Ti 4600
is my ram too low?

People with lot lower specs then yours have played and finished HL2...So its not the machine... Have you tried playing around with the graphics settings?
Try everything on low, then everything on high...

Also you do have DirectX 9.0c installed right? You can check by going to the advanced video menu.. At the bottom you should find a hardware DX level and software DX level...Yours should read 8.0(or 8.1) and 9.0c respectively.

Yeah i have tried it all i downloaded 9.0c again just in case it says it there putting them on low or high dosent work.
do u want me to post a screen shot of what some of the map looks like?

this is the main menu image it is like that for most of the map on all of them apart from inside which is perfect also the weapons shoot and fire but u cant see them.
zombies dont appear either.
please help i only started playing on sunday so im a bit pissed off!

Okay there is a couple of things you could try.

First lets try to force the game to run on Dx 7. To do this you must enable the console. Go to controls=>Advanced=>Enable developer console. Now if you press the tilde(`) key the console will pop up. In it type

mat_dxlevel 70.

Then load up a level and see if this works first.

Another separate thing you can do is see whether any commands on wireframe has been turned on. To do this you must type each of the following commands in the console and see whether they are set to 0(off).If some of them are on turn them off.
mat_leafvis 0
mat_wireframe 0
r_modelwireframedecal 0
r_overlaywireframe 0
r_shadowwireframe 0
r_visocclusion 0
vcollide_wireframe 0
vcollide_wireframe_axes 0

alrite nothing seemed to change at all besides after i typed in MAT_DXLEVEL 70 it seemed to get a lil brighter.

i read some of the text in the console it sayed soeming about models and a file?

but im sure that isnt important, got any other ideas?
by the way when i was typign all that stuff in the console like R_visocclusion 0 it came up with others undenath with 1.0 and other numbers on the end shall i try turning them off.

i have backed up all the games (garrys mod , half life 2 games and counter strike) on to disks shall i uninstall them and then reinstall them with the discs? ( not counter stike s that works perfect)

Use Steam to verify your game cache. Also, just try to install through Steam if your internet is fast enough. Log onto your account and choose "delete local content" or something, and it will download the missing info - everything (apparently).

Also, how did you make your install back-ups? Did you use Steam?
