Male,16.

I've played HL, i want the sequel to contain the same scaryness and atmosfere as half-life.

Im 17, male, gamer played hl1 etc

I want half life 2 to have 3 or 4 game winning ideas

(i.e. bullet time in max payne was a game winning idea)

these might be physics
AI
cool weapons
emotive charachters
involving storyline
ridiculously modable
etc

good luck with your project :)

Male 26

Played hl1 a few times through and played cs for 2 years.

I want multiplayer manipulator monkey tennis.

Seriously though (queue death threats) the single player doesn't bother me that much. I want addictive, secure and stable multiplayer games. CS:Source is really a step towards my gaming utopia if it turns out like i hope it will.

Male 17

I want a game that is both fun but just as importantly imersive. I want to believe I am there, taking part in the action. :)

I also want it to be as easy to mod as HL1 so I can get some more great content free!!! :p

Male 17

I want the sequel to contain a good ammount of exciting gameplay and good firefights, also I want the story and physics to be topnotch.

Male 19 (um, all male so far)

Played HL1 three times

Want: Great storyline, innovation, and great phsyics (and graphics) to boot!

Age 22, male. Played hl1, currently into CS (HL mod).

I want something that makes it stand from rest of the games. Maybe physics will do the trick this time. Or graphics maybe? I'm also waiting to experience the same kind of well wroted story as in hl1.
Above these all I'm waiting for mods. I'm waiting for ultimate e-sport mods, CS-source and CS2.

Male, 18.

I want a great, or at least decent story with some heavy action elements included.

Male, 19.9.

I want a game I'll actually enjoy enough to play through to the end.

Male, 22 - Played HL1 (finished it on difficult like 800 times over the years)

I want a good gaming experience, I want a lengthy game campaign (in other words, the game should last me 30+ hours to finish..too many 10 hour games recently)
I want an intriguing story, memorable characters... varied weapons, good graphics to challenge my monster rig.
I want a game that will challenge me.. no game has since.. since I cant even remember.

but most of all I want the physics, and I WANT THEM TO PUT IN THE ABILITY TO RAGDOLL A CHARACTER THAT IS ALIVE ala PSI OPS!!!!!! :/

btw, welcome to the forums, and good luck on your media project :)

male, 16(common number, eh?)
I played through half life one, tough I cheated on the last boss ;P

I want half life 2 to have great AI, so that hardness wouldn't be just giving em extra hp.
I want it to have almost hauntingly realistic physics
I want it to be really immersive, full of surprises
most of all, I want it to still amaze me even after seeing the e3 videos, with something else valve saved

Male 27. Played HL1, BS, OP4.

I like the originals for the puzzles they presented and hope the new one has plenty of things to solve.

Male, 17½ , Played HL1

I want an intense and immersive story line...and Gordon + Alyx sex scene, only joke :)

Male, 17.

Played HL1 so I'd like to see a worthy follow up, that lives up to the original game....or better still, exceeds the standard the original set.
I want to get immersed in a sophisticated plot.
Realistic graphics, physics, AI.
I want new, original, imaginative gameplay ideas that are realistic, involving and most importantly, fun.
I want scarily real characters and involving character development.
I'd like to see some dry humour occassionally.
Frighteningly atmospheric environments and lighting.
A game I can play to the end....and then play again and again, experiencing new things every time.
Basically i want HL2.
Good luck.

Male, 18 played HL 1

I want the atmosphere to immerse me to a point where I actually feel for the characters, actually get scared, angry and exhilirated. I also want a really cool multiplayer possibly with Combine vs Resistance fighters in large maps.

Sex: Unknown (Pending further study)
Age: Approx 18-22

Saw HL1 when sick in december of 98, was completely obsessed with the game and didnt get to play it till feburary, in the space of 2 months i had completely overblown the story in my mind, the actual game was a thousand times better and ive replayed it constantly since, then got into DM then TFC then CS then DOD then NS and so on :O

I want HL2 to maintain the feeling of being inside a very large MP community, with a singleplayer that you can just relax and enjoy without noticing every little trick, gimmick and tweak the mappers used (like every game since hl1), to maintain a sense of playing a game and not navigating a group of polygons.

Male, age 17

I've played HL1, Blue Shift, Op4, and all of the multiplayer expansions

male, 17, yes half-life 1.

I want: interactive world and a good story.

Female 26, half-life no

I'm Miss Outer-Mongolia and I want world peace and equal rights for small puppies.

(Sorry I had to)

I want the continuation of the story line.
The interactivity with the world with the physics system.
The Moding

As a sequel I want familiarity and for it retain the feel of the original (unlike UT2003 for example, which totally changed the formula of the UT series), yet it should also be on a more impressive scale, bigger and better. It should welcome those new to the franchise yet not patronise experienced users - the manipulator gun’s usage of razorblades proves that Valve have already adeptly adopted this ethic (the razorblades being an OTT example of how to utilize the manipulator gun, yet subtle enough to avoid patronising/alienating experienced users with voice commentary or blatant commands/messages).

In terms of story, HL1 was very much an enveloping experience, opening up plot lines throughout the game’s progression, leaving many unanswered threads. HL2 should clearly open up the story even more, advancing the original storyline through clearing up those unanswered threads from the original, but also open new areas of storyline, this clearly seems to placed on Alyx, your companion throughout the game who seems to act as a conduit of information for Gordon, potentially revealing information from the past 10 years and of current affairs, regarding the Combine and the current state of the world.

Technically, from the 5 year hiatus, many people are expecting big things from HL2, clearly these have been realised from the videos and gameplay experiences of magazines. Alongside the storyline, a major factor in Half-Life was interactivity and its ability to engross the player within its world, making you believe that you are Gordon Freeman.

Male 17, played HL1.

In HL2, i want a good, belivable story-line with plenty of challenges and no unbelievable challenges... like 1000 enemies, with uber leet skills, like in the later levels on Wolfenstien!

Played Half-Life 1: Yes
What I'd like to see in HL2: First and foremost a great story, this is the most important thing to me about Half-Life 2. The story was what helped draw me into the first game. With the new facial animations and voice acting I believe that they have the tools to convey the story even better. I'm looking forward to the physics engine and the manipulator gun, this alone will be very interesting and give ample amounts of freedom in itself, the ability to interact at such a detailed level with the environment is very impressive. The graphics are the third most important thing behind story and interaction; they look great and are being optimized to run on a variety of computer hardware, from old Dell family machines to the latest custom built gaming machines. I look forward to playing the game on the latter of the two, I built a machine with Half-Life 2 in mind and I hope my Radeon 9800XT is up to the task as it starts to show some age. All in all, I'm looking for a great gaming experience and I believe Half-Life 2 will deliver just that.

*I hope this helps for your project, let me know if you need any other details or more of a LIST of features I'd like to see, I can type that up too.

EDIT: Fixed some spelling mistakes.

male, 19. played HL many times.
i want a totaly immersive game world (physics, graphics, character interaction) and a great story. basically, i want to be raving about this game the same way i do about HL1 in 5 more years.

Male, 15. Played HL many times
I want the same atmosphere(dark, scary). I want to be able to do almost anything I want to with the physics. :)

Male, feeling a very old 34 at the side of those that have posted so far. ;(

Played HL for over 5 years and still playing it

Not interested in the single player game, only thing I want is great multiplayer online action (just like HL), whether its straight out of the box or in the form of a freebie or paid mod.

Male, 20

I want interactivity (ie physics)

And I want to have an Orwell-ian (1984) type of atmosphere. Or something that draws me into the game.

Male, 16, Yes, I've played HL1

I'd like them to keep the original lay-out and just add extras and basically a new storyline. The game is as good as it could ever get with the layout seen in HL1.

Male
20
Played HL1 extensively

Im looking for a game thats going to have me totally immersed in the story, a game with great physics that will allow for creative and clever ways of advancing through the story. I want HL2 to do what HL1 did for me 5 years ago, I want to forget that Im sitting in front of my computer and think im in City17.

Male 27.

bought and played HL1 the day it was released, completed it about 5-6 times now in all difficulty levels.

what am i looking forward to in HL2?

basically the some of the same things that made HL1 so successful and some new things.

- storyline in HL1 was amazing and leads to a very promising HL2 storyline
- gameplay was very engaging in the first one, hoping its the same or better in #2
- new weapons.. from what everyone has seen in the E3 demo, the grav gun is probably the most popular and yet the rest of the guns have not been revealed, exciting times
- mod-ability, this speaks for itself.. HL1 has survived this long because it was made very well and mod-able.. with the introduction of Steam, HL2 and any new mods and other media is more easily accessible than the competitors' games.
- the expansion packs for the HL series have been good too and i hoping that does not change :)

hope this helps and good luck with ur project :)

Male 19,

played HL1

I want a rich and compelling story and physics and graphics effects that mean I never complete the game becasue I spend hours just looking at one scientist, or wondering around in a stupor with the manipulator or playing cool parts over and over and over again.

Then I want to take the game, crack open Hammer and play god.

male, 23. met my girlfriend whilst playing hl in 1998... she said she would get me hl2 for my birthday last year... dumped in the mean time. still playing hl.

length of time with gf: 4 & 1/2 years
length of time with hl: 5 years

Bring on hl2, i need a new woman. (+ wedding ring with a lambda on it)

Male, 17. Played through Half-Life many times.
Half-Life was introduced to me by a friend, and I had never seen anything like it. I want something that is equally immersive, and will have a great story.

Male, 16, and I have never played Half-Life.

What I want to experience from Half-Life 2 are these four key ingredients:

Longetivity
Replayability
Interactivity
Outstanding Graphical Capabilities

...
and to redefine the FPS genre for years to come

Male 22

Played through Half-Life and all the expansion packs multiple times (and allmost every other fps out there).

I want immersion, and longevity (i.e. mods) and i'm an upcoming mod author (at least that's the idea). I'll be really interested in how far the new engine can be pushed, and i'll be pushing it A LOT! :)
Also I'll be interested what HL2 MP will be doing.
