HL2 MIGHT be being sold in Colorado....

I doubt any copies have shipped anywhere. C'mon guys, the game went gold just a few days ago! How can they already be shipping when it is possible that less than 100 000 copies have been manufactured?

PS - If it's true, I doubt the game will be playable since Steam needs to authenticate it and it's still 25 days away from the official street date. Of course, with a retail copy, you could blackmail Valve into unlocking the game or you'll distribute it on the net.... heh...
 
You know, I'd be glad if it's true, I"m not going to jump to conclusions, but there's an itching feeling I have that it's false...

Valve clearly stated that as soon as it's available through retail, it will be unlocked on Steam. It will undoubtedly get out early somewhere, even if it's only by a couple of days.

So basically, Steam buyers are very likely to be playing it before retail buyers, except the lucky few who are in somewhere.

I would bet it takes about 7 hours for a workaround to get out on the net.

If it goes live on steam first I did preload, all I would have to do it buy it. Its win-win

I think you'll know it's real when a lot of people are saying they have it and are playing it. When some guy posts a pic in some "obscure" forum with a single pic (and doesn't show like the game running), don't you ... wonder?

Yeah, they are down so they can announce HL2's release because people have gotten the game on retail. Only ONE person has to have it before they can release it on steam!

No, Best Buy in Colorado Springs does not have HL2, yes they do have a release date of 11/6/04 but it can't be confirmed, that's just the date they had just like the various other dates stores had earlier.
 
Shoot, i missed that thread (was off working on homework :x ). It could be a conspiracy! Maybe even a coverup. Do you think that they'd close the forums just to cover it up? Or...maybe they're going to make an announcment for something that they need LOTS of bandwith for.

Yeah like i said, weird stuff has been going on the past 30 minutes. Stuff will continue to get stranger and HL2 really is out or by the end of the night we have realized all of this happened out of know where. Could be "username" for everything...the pic, post, although best buy does claim to have it by the 6th.
