After seeing Half Life 2’s impressive graphics and physics system, I immediately wanted to import my car designs into the game. After thinking about it, it seems to me that it may be worth my time to make the project more extensive than a simple racing game. This is still in the theory stage, and I’m not 100% sure if I’ll proceed. I could probably do this by myself, but I’m sure it would be much better if I had a team. I also need random crazy ideas and not so random crazy ideas to be thrown into the mix.

I would like this MOD to maximize fun, and replayability, so an ultimate nuke which kills everyone on that map is overboard. This is still very much in the concept stage, so feel free to say whatever. Anyone who would like to join the project is welcome to offer their services, but until the project looks very promising, I wont ask people to start any work.

Half-Life 2 MOD: Gryphon

Overview:
Gryphon is a team-based multiplayer Half-Life 2 modification. Current plans are to use vehicles created by Gryphon Automotive (www.GryphonAuto.com). It is a FPS with elements of racing, RPG, and other genres. Players earn money by killing enemy players and the adaptive money system encourages players to stay alive.

Rank:
Rank uses and adaptive formula which encourages skill and strategy. Players must minimize their deaths and survive as long as possible to achieve rank. Players are ordered by their rank number.
Total Kills=K
Total Deaths=D
Largest Kill Streak=S
Rank Number = 8*(2+K)/(5+D) + S

Money system:
Players earn money by killing enemy players or destroying vehicles. Money earned each time a kill is achieved, and is equal to 50 times their rank number.

Rank_Number*50=Money_Rewarded

This adaptive system encourages unique strategies which both kills and avoiding death is awarded. Players must earn money fast enough to acquire vehicles or weapons but must avoid death to gain money quickly.

Vehicles:
Each vehicle is bought at a station. Most vehicles have multiple upgrade options. Upgrade options may include lock, speed, armor, primary firepower or secondary firepower. Upgrading the armor automatically restores all vehicle health. Locks are available for 3000. These prevent anyone from stealing your vehicle. Also, locks change the paint scheme to camouflage or black. The fighters are flyable vehicles. The Ultimate force cannon (to be renamed) is like the manipulator, but powerful enough toss around any vehicle. The “something cool” will be something to utilize a cool feature of the Half Life 2 source.

Weapons:
Eventually, all weapons in the game will be replaced. Initially, we’ll just use simple modifications of existing weapons. Weapons can be bought or stolen, but are not readily spawned.

Health:
Individuals’ health can be restored at the friendly home base or the enemy home base. Vehicle health is restored at the garage by upgrading the armor.

Spawning
Individuals spawn at their home base. Vehicles spawn in the garage when bought.

...also feel free to suggest a name. A gryphon(or griffin) is a half-lion/half-eagle creature....
