Off the grid living

Here, jverne, I've got some blogs I used to read before I realized self-sufficiency is stupid. They're ultra-conservatives though, so I dunno how that jives with the whole "pinko commie treehugger" vibe I've been getting from you. Either way, survivalism/off-grid is a waste of time, and your effort is better spent just living in a cheaper house, instead of spending a small fortune on alternative power/appliances.

Knock yourself out.

Please.

If you're talking about electricity yes, for now it's not possible, but everything else is perfectly accessible.
Why the hell would you not buy class A appliances, they're a bit more expensive but are much more efficient.
Investing in a small insulated house is the best you can do, this measure is so effective even our stupid government realizes it and demands every new house built must be insulated.

The problem with you guys is that you think this are extreme hippie solutions. Not at all, alot is proven old technology that got a boost from modern times. Practical applications.
Not insulating your house should be criminal, this can save you so much energy.
And besides, i don't even read tree****er blogs.

I believe the proper term is tree hugger; take it from me, you can't really **** a tree.
