Well... we all know the many mods being developed.. but we havn't erally got anything good. Dystopia is fun for an hour or 2 and plan of attack is soso. There just hasn't been any really good mods like there were for hl1 yet. Good examples are natural selections... counter-strike (of course)... earth's special forces. I suppose since source engine is a lot more advanced it would take a lot longer to dish out mods and the creativity level shrinks due to less time dilated towards experimenting and more time towards coding.

It's going to take some time for the really quality stuff to come out. It's not like the original Half-Life had any mods worth playing within a year of its release.

What flames :p

HL2 didn't give the actual illusion that you weren't playing a linear game. It did its best, but :|

But on every other aspect it still pwns everything, only HL1 is able to rival it :p

I think it lacked the diversity of hl1. Hl1 felt like this massive adventure with tons of enemies and weapons and environments etc, and hl2 to me just didnt. All that with hl2s graphics and physics should be ub3r.

HL2 felt like a more massive and varied adventure to me. o_O

I wish there really was an HL2 mod that could make me fall asleep. I haven't slept in over 56 hours. The horror...the horror...

any long single player mod should hold your attention just wait

When I finally get off my arse to finish it, Conquest: City 17 should be a good laugh, assuming you enjoy squad-based RTS games.

Apart from that, ZombieMaster is reaching its beta pretty soon, after we iron out a few issues.

I am still trying to get good at Natural Selection, so when that hits the Source engine.... drool.

But yeah I agree. Right now, its a little lackluster. I am really looking forward to Insurgency, Forsaken and of course BMS.

well maybe its a memory thing, i havnt played hl1 for about 4 years..... but i doubt it

We hope Black Mesa: Source will re-install that feeling of massiveness (is that even a flipin word??) in Half-Life. I personally believe HL1 is better than Half-Life 2.

Hmm, yeah i cannot wait for all the HL2 mods to start piling in :) .... but im patient, i have over 50 console and pc games to complete to keep me busy, already told myself i aint gonna buy anymore games until i completed the tons that i already got :p

50? 0.0

i currently only own 3 games in total = bf2, hl2, ut2003

Well, HL1 was set almost entirely in an underground base, encompassing clean labs and offices, murky industrial spaces, ancient crumbling abandoned silos and above-ground jaunts through bombed-out ruins. Xen too. Weapons range from the conventional to the experimental to the weird and alien; you fight beasts, soldiers both human and otherwise, assassins, tanks and helicopters. Your task is to escape Black Mesa, go back in, go down to the centre of Black Mesa, go to Xen.

HL2, by comparison: walk around in austere City-17 where brutalist Combine tech mixes with old and worn architecture, escaping through the mess-ful canals into the countryside, tearing down a river past factories and bunkers and warehouse complexes until you reach the damn and Black Mesa East, a kind of overflowing cubbyhole of ramshackle technology and lived-in space. Then a trek through a scary village complete with graveyard. Then a buggy ride through the country on the coast. Then a rescue mission in a prison overrun with antlions. Then CoD-style heroics in a bombed-out city. Then an ascent and final showdown atop a crazy futureist citadel. Weapons modern, conventional, near-future, Combine-alien and gravity gun. Human soldiers of different varieties backed up by artillery, helicopters and APCs. Zombies and headcrabs. Swarming aliens and their mamas. Synth - gunships and striders. I personally found that far more varied and epic than the original. Even though HL2 had less weapons, in the original it felt like I didn't use all of the weapons (there were some I used only once or twice) whereas in HL2 it felt like every weapon had a big part and was essential.

Wow, that really moved me Sulks ;( It makes me wanna play both HL1 and HL2 again now .... but i can't ... i must ..... resist ..... must .... complete .... other ... games .... first ...ahh

Any rough idea when it will be released? Like will it be months or over a year?

Garry's mod is about the best mod ever made. It may not be impressive from the point of view of how much on it was done, it may be the simplest you could do. But who gives a shit, the simplest ideas have often had the greatest succes and fun. It's like lego only 100X better.
Then you have minerva: methastasis, great and level headed sp mod
And The Hidden, it's incredibly good and original multiplayer.

I personally can't wait for Forsaken.

I didn't see anyone naming Rogue Threat, where you play as a Metrocop.

That's like the new op4!
