I don't know about the rest of you, but if a Half-Life movie came out I think it'd be great. Of course a couple questions rattle in my head. Would it be a Dvd/VHS, or theatrical release? Also would it just involve killing every scientist then restarting the map and killing them all over again, or perhapes a intreaging story? I think a theatre release would be better. As man die hard fans of Half-life there are, Valve could easiely make up for thier losses from the past couple months. Considering that how much it would take to pay for the voice acting and editors and how much money they'd make in the end.........just think of the profits they'd make!!!

I think Valve could make up for any loss of sales due to this hack thing by releasing a book that went through this past month and all the crazy shit that happend.

I am not sure about a movie though, they cost 2 much.

been talked about.

i, like most of the community, would love to see an HL movie. It wouldnt be just for the fans, the story would make an excellent film.

apparently HL was liscenced to some movie studio, Im pretty sure I read it somewheres on IGN movies.
anywyhoo I would love to... but not with gordon.. it would kill his character and may alienate a lot of users if he is given "character" so its dangerous ground
that being said..
EDWARD NORTON FOR GORDON!!!
and Christopher Walken for the G-Man.
whew, the goodness.

as for valve losing money over this whole ordeal.. I highly doubt it. :)

mmh an halflife movie without freeman...
or maybe they can make the movie so that we see the entire movie through gordon's eyes ^^

Gabe has already knocked back numerous movie offers because they strayed too far from the actual Half-Life story line, and he would want it to stay as true as possible to the game. I hope this answers your question about a potential story line.

As for format, of course it would run retail on DVD & VHS (perhaps not VHS if released in 2005 or later), and if good enough I'm sure we'd see a cinema screening.

Norton would make a fine Freeman, though I'm not really a fan of his.

Walken as G-Man, perhaps, but we need someone with the right voice.

HL movie? Dunno about the actors, I don't know who they are.

A first-person movie would be great if they could pull it off properly. The Blair Witch Project was kind of first-person, though it was more from a continuously-held camera than anything else.

I'd make Gordon a mute, personally.

*whispers Sshhh, you fool. Valve doesn't know that.*

Yes...Umm...VALVe should release Hl2 as soon as possible, so as not to lose any significant revenue. Uhh...and large collection of action figures made by Joy Ride Studios, or MacFarlane Toys.

Seriously, though, I'd love an Hl movie. I remember when Sierra asked the community for their ideas, and whethere they'd like one, or not. I'm not to sure how the Hl movie would be. Mr. Redundant is right, it's dangerous ground. I'm not an absolute purist, but I want them to keep to the story, and I don't like the thought of Gordon's personality. THat was one of the key features in Hl, you felt you were Gordon. So if they made a movie, I'd feel like I was watching a guy trying to be Gordon. I think others can identify with me on this. I guess we'd have to see what they'd come up with. If it sucked, I'd probably still buy it just to have the obviously cool case it'd come in.

I would like the following acter/ss to be in the movie:

Aliens:
Arnold Shawsneger
Silvester Stalone

Heros:
Pamela Anderson
Carrie Ann Mose
Vin deazel

G-man:
Any Hollywood Gay.

:cheese:

Edward Norton:

Christopher Walken:

They're perfect!

Actually, there was an interveiw with Gabe on halflifesource.com, and someone asked Gabe if it was possible to make a movie with the source engine. Gabe said it's possible. So once the sdk comes out, people could make movies with it and post them online.:afro:

Err... so are we talking about a movie made in source, or a cinema movie based on HL here? And Sublime, that news is a little old.

all movies based on games sucked so far, maybe to low budged or a bad director dunno but its not good.

I'm talking about making a movie using the software development kit(SDK), and doing voiceovers and stuff. That would be pretty cool.:afro:

Yes, if you use it like Pixar uses their software. Can't help thinking it'd end up looking kind of amateurish though.

Walken would NOT be a good Gman, its all in how they speak and act, its way too different.

I would like an ingame movie of HL...like the Militia movies. That would be very cool

heh the G man ......I'd use someone like tim robbins, he can do creepy quite well, Walken is a great actor.....but he is reactive actor and the G Man is very contained. Norton would be a good choice for gordon though. To be honest a movie would probably be a disappointment (simply because of the time constraints of fitting in a decent story arch in 2.5 hours max). A better call would a TV drama series giving you plenty of opportunity for character development, plot revelations and general ass whooping as gordon kicks seven shades of shit out of Xen Alien scum and marines, before the black op ninjas bitches teach him how to crawl again.

i would have to agree that walken would be a good actor for the part considering if given proper amount of make up and clothing, could look nearly identical to g-man. But I made this thread I meant a movie being made from the game. No real life half life, but a movie somewhat like the Blood Gulch Cronicles, although a little more on the better quality side. As much as I seen, it seems as though manipulating movment should be easy, voice overs a cinch, just make up another good story, use the same voice acting and BAM instant movie....although in the end it's a little more complicated than that.

oh I misunderstood then..
if thats the case of course.
Gabe has stated numerous times that from the beginning they had "movie making" in mind for everything from replays to actualy camera support, rewind, motion blur effects, etc etc.
so yeah I would expect some great stuff in the future in that respect ;)

How about a hardcore gamer who goes into the Halflife universe for some cheezy cliche reason :D

could call it Half-game

:D

They made a Super MArios Bros movie...they can definitely make a Half Life movie

As long as Arnie has a role in the movie, too bad he is govenor of California now, though we can probley wait three years for his term to finish.
