3. Start revising your Privacy Policy to do email marketing.
4. Add more pop-up and pop-under ads.
5. Start using flash adverts. like game spy - that you have to watch for X seconds before the page loads.
6. Use Microsoft's .NET framework capabilities to do RPCs to bring up adverts on Steam users computers.

Why don't you guys take donations or something. Let the people who are getting something out of this site contribute. Why not keep the money in the community?

Provide a paypal account where people can donate, instead of info-mercials all over the place.

Well, if people can't even stand putting up with having a banner advertisment on the site to support us I don't see how they're going to donate money Donations do work in the short term but do not give the regular income needed to pay costs.

I don't expect you to give the figures, but can you give us an idea on how much it costs to operate this site? I have no idea at all.

If you do a donation drive every 6 months, I think that will work. Putting up a sign saying "donations please" will not work. But if you only ask for donations once in a while, people will be more likely to give. I'd probably give money to this site if a donation drive was given.

Munro, you should give a list of alternatives for HL2.net forum browsers to choose from to determine which advertising method you should use.

Seriously, ask for donations if you need them. See if Valve can sign a poster or two or some other cool stuff and have a raffle with $5 tickets in addition to a few banners. But dont just roll your eyes at ideas because for some unknown reason your minds are set on useless adverts to cover costs.

i wouldn't mind a donation drive although i am not sure if i could donate each time but when i could, i would.. i hope the staff and Munro consider this option.

i dunno...add special services for pple who donate to the site.. something.. anything.. anything that would help.. because frankly put, i know how it is paying monthly bills.. its hella expensive.
