It looks automatic. And it looks good. I suggest throwing out the italics on Aperture Science, and maybe just playing around more with it.

A subtle background texture would not hurt, especially something that looked like the walls in Portal. But very, very subtle.

I google "Aperture Science font" to find a similar font that it is in the logo, and one person said Helvetica was relatively similar.

True, I tried to think of as many unique HL2/Valve game related words as I could. Eventually I ran out of ideas and had to duplicate to fill the remaining space.

Updated portal. Don't really care for either version of the text but the image is too plain without something there. If anyone knows font/a close match of the font used in Aperture science logo, let me know. ATM, its Helvetica.

The composition between the big text and the symbol is just irritating. If you're in typography you really should learn to be more creative with this stuff. I'm just not feeling the italics at all. Something isn't angled right, it just feels imbalanced.

You might consider filling the shapes in with more small text, but that's just an idea.

If you look at the Aperture science logo, the word "Aperture" looks italicized to me. Even though I replaced the word Laboratories with science, the word Aperture still looks italicized to me.
