Hehe it looks like ESRB rated HL2 already (M rating), the official Half-life 2 site (half-life2.com) has a new trailer up and before it starts it has a M rating instead of the old RP (pending rating). Here's the link to the streaming trailer:

By the way this is my second find of the day, I found the gamestop thing about HL2 CE first today :p

*EDIT: sorry fixed link*

Good.. hopefully this will put a rest to those folks who thought it would somehow get Teen.

ye but new to the site, the one they had before was from E3 2003, this trailer is new because of the rating and stuff but yeah its from that bink we had for a while now.... like Valve said no new media after E3 2004

O ok I see what your saying.

Come on, braning the severed legs of a human with a crowbar hanging from a tree was going to get teen how?

"Rated m for mature" :) i like that part at the end of the movie, in orther words its saying "We are almost there"

Hey, the almighty Gabester said otherwise. If it really does get a "M" rating, it should be easier to buy it in a store since half of the PC gaming population can't buy it without their parents. :E

No official rating has been made yet.

HL2 has not received an official rating from the ESRB yet. It would be posted on ESRB.org and half-life2.com.

The "M" that we have seen is not official. It was probably slapped on in speculation that the game would eventually be rated "M." They'd rather put an "M" rating on and have it later reduced to a "Teen" rating than doing the opposite and have over-protective parents flame them for upping the rating.

Not to mention chopping zombies in half with saw blades and propellers. And lets not forget lighting them of fire while they scream in agony.

You want super gore, I saw a trailer for BloodRayne 2 today. Geez. I was shocked and I don't shock easily. Game devs need to learn that it's not all about the blood.

I doubt it would be legal for someone to just "slap" a rating, I know movies get in big trouble for that... I'd imagine it is the same for games...

Please.. anybody with a brain knows it is/will be rated M.
True, but the "M" rating is nonetheless unofficial at this point.

I'm not a lawyer, but I know that in the gaming industry, games are not legally required to have a rating. It's more of an "act of good faith." I'm sure noone is going to be suing Valve (except Vivendi ).

Yep, we'll be coming out holding our copies (smiling or crying [if your a guy or girl (sterotyping)]) and see all those poor suckers crying to their mommies to buy them HL2.

On a serious note, the EB I buy games at they don't give a shit how old you are as long as you got the dough, so I'll still have to bust a couple of caps to get to my SE.

It will get rated M. I mean for gods sake, few M rated games are as violent as what we've seen of Half-Life 2. Besides, even if by some incredibly weird occurance HL2 gets a T rating, it will still be sold as M because CS is packaged with it.

Good point, never even stopped to think about that.

sometimes the deciding factor when it comes down to whether i want this game or that, is whichever one has a higher rating. mature beats teen and nc 17 beats mature ;)

Wow! What an update! Half-Life 2 is rated 'M'! I think the majority of us pretty much saw this coming.
I thought this was really some new stuff, I interrupted my groove-gettin' it on session for this.

:(

Maybe your joking, but I never ever did that. My favorite game of all time is Zelda Ocarina of Time and that's rated E (I'm pretty sure).

Yea, but,. that game is about a Vampire,.. blood kinda fits into the equasion there.

A game can't survive on gore alone. But still, it is an essential part of the realism equasion.. it definitly was a welcome feature in HL1, IMO.

Just watched that Bloodrayne 2 vid,. seing the spine when she slices people down the middle,. I'd have to say, thats pretty neat. Still, it is worthless if the gameplay isn't there.

You think it would be rated T! :O Now I can't buy it by myself.

I believe that even once they are rated the game has to get a proper release date(go gold) before the rating gets posted on the site. I may be wrong though

Rating is a good sign though. :p

By the way, did any of you notice that girl says "let's get the hell out of here" just before the strider shoots Gordon with it's laser thing. :)

EDIT: Sorry, I think she says "Get out of here"
