HL2 - New species of headcrab

Yes, old chap, but it's quite simply the best, eh what? Pass the crumpets, old bean. :p

There are 3 face crabs from what I've read.

A heavy one that clambers into peoples backs and takes them over.

A light one which creates a fast leaping running zombie like 28 Days Later

and

The Traditional Vanilla FC

Mr.Magnethead probably has it right and on the whole Headcrab scenario they would be practicly usless if people wore helmets :p

Just because German lost the vote against English in the early U.S. ;)

Nah they do, PC Gamer and Gamespot were allowed to see a demo of a huge alien in armor chasing gordon and hunting him down as he hides behinds doors. In the end it smashes its arm through the door and pulls it off. So i've read in PC Mag and on Gamespot. So they see more then us, and chances are if they've seen more then they know more

Sounds cool, is there an URL?

Schoenen Tag zurueck ;)

I think, it's now clear, that there are new headcrab species.

@moppe
I don't think so. There would be already news on all HL2 pages.

PC Gamer... any one of several online previews... probably no one's going to go hunt down the specific URLs for you...

And I hadn't actually heard of those two new headcrab species that Mr. Magnetichead mentioned in any previews, online or offline...

Well, we'd discussed that pic before, but no one had said, "Hey, yeah, that's a different type of headcrab!"...

well its is, :),,... see the zombie looks way diffrenent too, all purple like and bloated. Poison? but im sure ive heard theres another type too,,

Yeah... now we know that it's a different type... but only after we've been given some info that sounds like some sort of secondhand spoiler... before, people were speculating that that was the next level of zombie evolution, or that it was the result of a semi-successful headcrab attack, or a piece of old art for HL that never got used...

Wasn't the second level zombie evolution already in Opposing Force?
Those with jaws in the breast?

I said next, not second.

You remember correctly otherwise, though, the second level of zombie was already in OP4, and it was called the Gonome...

ah, I misunderstood the post.
But it can't be the post-Gonome level,
why should the headcrab first do a fusion and then split again? ;)

The zombie and the headcrab became the gonome. The Headcrab isn't anmore just attached. It's all one thing.

I need more practical english experience ^^;;

Is this in reference to the difference between the Gonome in OP4 and the picture of the zombie above? I dunno... I didn't recall the Gonome having the headcrab fused to the human's body...

Whatever, I still stand by my statement that the info Mr Magnetichead gave was at least a second hand spoiler... the other two alternatives (Semi-successful attack and unused concept art for Half Life) are still valid, or were at the time...

All I ever read in any of the previews was the general descriptions of the shapes of the headcrabs, not what they did, or what kind of zombies they produced.

Yeah in the Gonome stage the headcrab is fused to the body. The front legs are free and wiggle around like antennae or feelers. I'm looking at it with the model viewer right now.

I always thought that pic was just an early concept of a zombie, but who knows.

I believe valve had already said somewhere that we would be seeing the next stage of zombie evolution (beyond the gonome), can anyone confirm this?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they said that too... was it in the "Info from VALVe" thread?

i hope not, they were annoying little beasts! i blew myself up couple of times because there were so many :s

will the baby headcrabs come back?

I don't know, I do however know that there are Face Crab NESTS that spit out face crabs when approached.

Oh GOD the MegaZombies or whatever the f*ck they were in Op4 were so very very bad.
It's like a normal zombie! But it's fast! And throws bits of itself at you! And growls like a tiger! And has none of the atmosphere or comical value of the normal ones! Anyone? No?
Although the grunt zombies (rather than the usual scientists) were cool :) Was there a Barney zombie?

Oh, and Mr. Magnetichead? Isn't that a bit of a spoiler there? I don't seem to remember that being mentioned anywhere (forgive me if I'm wrong)

Your all just going to have to wait until Hl2 is released.

I'd have to agree with el Chi, there, Mr Magenetichead, that sounds like another spoiler from you...

No, only the grunts are replaced with those.
There is still the female assassin, but also mechanik gibing. And if you kill a Barney or a Scientist, they sit down and shake the head.

am happy with all the headcrab spices, ontile theres a buttcrab am happy. :)

Having problem with baby headcrabs? One word: hornetgun.

tfotdead just reminded me about a spoiler........I don't think he ment it with his misspelling...............but headcrab spices reminded me about the

(spoiler...........)

** Female Spy(assasin) Zombie** in hl2

yes thare are multi headcrab and multi zombies and some look really freaky one allmost looks like a wooman giveing birth to a cow... aka looks like its in serious pain

TrinityXero, I really do think that's going a bit far with the spoilers...

Who is delete my post?
Im just answering on the question, damn it.
And, im not "Beta spoilers".
So what, im delete game after testing.Completely.
To bad.I do not have any pictures to show you.
Don't tell me that niether one of you didn't play Half-Life 2 Aplha?

it's hard to understand you

and yes, you did give away "beta spoilers"

I honestly think its a good thing there are more then one species of headcrabs. No doubt the old models were good, but to me, they started to get kinda boring, and the thing that made them scary was that they jumped to your face...

I think this corresponds with one of humans primal fears...hope they worked that further out :E although im sure that anything that scared me more then the headcrabs did are going to be bad for my health :rolling:
