show off :upstare: looks really nice tho, but surely, sitting that close to a screen like that will blow up your eyes?

Nice man, i cant wait to get mine.

Ooh very nice! Regular widescreen res or anything higher? Specs?

The specs are : Westinghouse LVM-37w3 37" 1920x1080p 16:9 aspect ratio w/ 8ms response time and 1000:1 contrast ratio.

Oh actually I meant your rig specs and what res you're running the game at. 1920x1080 I presume now...

Yep, I run it at 1920x1080 at max quality and my rig is:

Manufacturer: OverdrivePC
CPU: Intel P4 2.4c
Ram: 3GB Dual Channel pc3200 DDR
Disk: Dual 120GB WD 7200RPM in RAID-0
Video: BFG 6800GT OC 256MB
Sound: Audigy2 ZS Platinum
Speakers: Zalman 5.1 Surround Headphones

Playing HL2 on this is phenomenal... the immersion is simply increadible. Money WELL spent!

edit: This is nuts... when I switch to grenades, gordons hand on screen is the same size as mine in real life:P

It looks nice...

BUT

If you place it on a desk like yours it's ridiculous...really, how far are you from the screen 15cm? Buy, make yourself a new desk, preferably a dark color and place the screen about 40cm from the edge...that should finish it off.

Sorry if I'm rude but it's a pitty that such nice hardware is placed in such a 'dump'

Grtzz

aw... but its so much fun when your so close you cant see the whole thing... really puts you in the game i bet... question: is this a computer monitor or a TV screen and how much did you pay for this?

It's a monitor that can pull duty as a TV (no tuners built-in, bring your own) and I paid $1250 for it :)

Connections are: 2 DVI, 1 HDMI w/ HDCP, 1 VGA 15 pin D-Sub, 2 Component, 1 s-video in.

blck_prod: I have the monitor hooked up to my computer temporarily as a test drive... The westy is going in my bedroom and will be wall-mounted and driven by a HTPC/DVR eventually.

;) I'm glad it your screen gets the place it deserves.

Now you can say to a girl who's visiting: "wanna see my BIG screen?....its in my bedroom...wink"

Hope you'll still be able to play HL on it, cause it looked really good on it

Grtzzz

OMG. Those eyes in the last pic are photorealistic! Are they the G-Mans?

P.S I don't own Episode 1 so I'm not too sure what the graphics are like regularly on a normal tele, but those graphics are miles ahead of Half-Life 2 and all the YouTube footage of Ep1 I've seen.

LMAO, I'm sure it's not the g-man, or any video game for that matter...

Oh the magic of Print screen.

Oh the magic of Print screen.
All images are straight from the camera, no compositing in of print screen images :)

The eyes are Nicholas Cage in the 1080p Hi-Def Trailer for the Ghost Rider movie and these screens look even better in real life then they look as posted :)

Very nice screen :) good for you.

I feel like competing and posting shots of ep1 on my 50" plasma screen in the loungeroom, but my rig can't handle such a high res as yours!

well.. this is the first time I've actually gone "oooh" at a big tv

Or get the new desk, leave it at the front, and get a wireless mouse, keyboard and a tray. HL2 from the sofa!

I know that.

I think you should take some screenshots just so we meer mortals can see them in all there detail.

I... I wish I had your monitor... *breaks down and weeps*

Hmm wow those blacks look pretty grey.

Ill stick with my 24" 1280p Widescreen CRT if you dont mind.
