Actually, i hope they release the uncut version in germany (it will get on the index, but since I'm 18, i can still get it). Or if they don't I'd say 4 Weeks till the first "uncut"-mod.

Well... in france we can hear everything and anything on TV. Nudity appears in shampoo and shower gel ad's too, you know. Movies are uncut. We can watch South Park and The Simpsons on TV: no "peeeeep", no cut.
And videogames are the same: blood and insults... And even if there's a "Mature Rated Game" logo or a "18" (age at which you can play this game) logo on the game's box, a 11 years old boy can buy a game and play it freely...
and I don't think that the cops will come to arrest him if he plays GTA3 with a blood patch and stuff...

EDIT: I went to germany last year, and that's true: there's no bit of blood in game. they can't play SOF2, they must apply a CS patch (funny patch though: if you kill someone, he falls on his ass and sleep, as if you were in a Tex Avery cartoon)

We were just talking about the censorship over there, nothing wrong with Germany or Germans at all, just silly censorship laws. And they are silly. I mean you can't even advertise an indexed at all, and that includes putting it on a shelf.

Valve have already said that they'll be working closely with the German censors.

And I remember reading about quite a few school shootings in Germany. Whenever they happen in the US they are talked about more, as if it's just a US only problem. It's not.

It's simply ridiculous how much hatred people still have against Germany. Germany has this censorship exactly to please you victims of WWII, and yet they're scorned. You claim yourselves above racism and hate, and yet you bear its seeds as all generations have.

People forget that your "just" revenge was carried out a long time ago. The Allied forces bombed German cities just as brutally as the Nazis bombed yours. They paid, they laboured and they do not need to bear any responsibility at all.

What happened to Germany can happen to any country in this world, and it already has with some. You are not better than them. At all.

here in Canada.. or at least Toronto (Canada's largest city) there is a viewer discretion warning before the start of the movie, and each time it returns from a commercial break.. actually theres 2 warnings..

if theres dirty/abusive language then u get the "course language" warning.. but if theres both abusive language, and scenes involving nudity, sex etc.. then theres a warning thats abit longer that includes the warning for "parental discretion for nudity, sex" etc.


and generally movies start around 9pm on tv.. as for nudity in ads and stuff... it doesn't happen in those..

I'm with you, man. Nazi Germany is entirely different from the Germany of today but people are still closed minded enough to think of the two as synonymous. Even people who weren't even SPERM in 1945. And other peoples cannot act as if they are exempt from racism or violence, or WAR-MONGERING (but that's a different topic altogether that'll involve napalm my way from "patriots").
I'm not sure about not needing to bear any responsibility at all, though - the holocaust is a wound that humanity will have to live with forever and ever and it should be acknowledged and dealt with by EVERYONE.

European media (most of it) seems to be inverse, foul language and sex is commonplace, but violence is kept to a minimum.

Is there any place in the world where i can have blood and guts AND tits and ass? Please tell me so i can move there.

Canada doesn't have nudity very often, only on late night tv are people allowed to have no cencorship.

Europe in general seems more liberal about nudity. It's not a big deal to see some breasts occasionally. Personally I find it less puritanical and more healthy philosophy about the human body.

Germany goes overboard to censor things, but judging from it's past who can blame them? Eventually they will grow out of their extremism, but at least they're ok with nudity. They could replace the word "kill" with the word "fu**" anyday and have no problem In the end, it's obvious one is prefered over the other regardless of who you are.

Different cultures, different customs.

get your facts straight, a few European countires have harsh censorship laws in regards to violence like Germany. FYI they also will not allow games with Swastika's in them (which is why the mod for Half life day of defeat" changed all the swastikas to Iron crosses and whatnot for their commercial release so it could be sold in Germany.

If you knew the reality most European countries have far more lenient cencorship, drug, prostitution etc laws. And believe it or not most of them pull it off. Instead of being an uptight hard ass like America strives to be (or at the very least America's mothers strive to be for their kids)

i switched the tv on yesterday and there was softcore porn on at 3 30 in the afternoon...wasnt on a cable channel it was on CH a local channel here and in Vancouver....

Canada is being smart and trying to change just like Britain and other European countries are doing....while US moms and politicians censor everything they humanly can

Yeah, North America has too many soccer moms that blame their bad parenting on tv, movies , and games. Even basic cable is censored, the same amount as regular Tv. This country was also founded on religion so america will never show nudity on regular and basic cable. I watch BET uncut which comes on at 2 am yet the boobs are still censored.

Anyway, im in australia and we are allowed a pretty free run of gore.

What id like to see, is a new classification of R18+ introduced. As it stands there is only an MA+ 15 and over rating for games, and anything worse than that gets edited or banned.

Id like to see all these amazingly gory games released but have them stricktly controlled. I know that almost all parents excluding soccer mum parents will think they are only games and just buy them for their kids, but at least it will be something to let those gory games in.

God i hate soccer mums. Just think, somone reading this rite now has a soccer mum who yells and cheers their 6 year old from the sideline venting their own failed dreams of glory. You wont admit it, but people hate your healthy-snack lunch box filling mum. Yeah go on and cry on the keyboard.
