wont the steam version of hl2 be like a 95% finished game that they will continually update to completion, that way they keep their word on the release date and ship a completely finished game to stores where the majority will buy hl2. and also how many ppl will actually buy single player only hl2? arent the future mods gonna be this games lifeline once ppl complete story mode.

They will release the FULL version of HL2, why bother with 95%? and cheap asses will get the single player cos there cheap

Who's to say that mods have to be multiplayer, I have a feeling it'll be just the same amount of work to whip up a single player campaign as it would be to knock together a multiplayer mod.
If you haven't realised already, Valve are a bunch of perfectionists, they will not release HL2 at 95% completion, they will addon new content here and there as time goes by so that the longevity of the game is substantially increased.... that's the theory at least.
