HL2 or Future Source games?

Simple question...

Would you rather have HL2 or a game made with Source say...3 years from now? A game made with 2007 Source technology would have alot of features that HL2 wouldnt...

Edit: By the way, lets just say that the 2007 game is their "Game of the Year"

Well, amneziac85, I think it's safe to say that everyone who posts regularly on a Half-Life 2 message board wants Half-Life 2. It doesn't necessarily have to be an either/or proposition, and I'm sure the tone of the thread as it develops won't treat the proposition as such.

I would take the safe bet and say HL2 as I don't know what will be around on source at that time.

people are voting HL2 because they've got a taste of what it looks like. if we saw the source game from 07, im quite certain they would vote otherwise. these are hardcore, loyal HL2 fans we're talking about too

Maybe I wasnt clear but I thought it was assumed that your computer could handle Game of the Year 07 or else there would be no point of even asking...none of our computers can.

No it isn't. Choosing a more technologically advanced game does not mean one forfeits gameplay for technology. Who is to say the hypothetical 2007 game doesn't have much better gameplay than hl2? I would rather have a game with awesome gameplay and incredible graphics than a game with awesome gameplay and passable graphics.

I think in 2007 there will be much better technology than Source around so I voted for hl2.

HL2 and it's expansions, and mods. When I say mod, I mean mod for HL2, not some other game that uses Source.

...I dunno why, but CS seems a bit nubbish to me [pardon my leet]. I used to love that game but I got so fed up with the idiots that play it (90% of CS players are annoying in one way or another, be it racism, homophobism, or just annoying).

Pity too, since I was damn good.

No its weird cause we don't what how that other game is gonna be like. So how the hell can we know what we would pick? That game might blow HL 2 out of the water by then , but might be a very bad game too.

Thats why the poll is weird.

And also, how would you know if HL 2 will offer better gameplay then that 2007 game?

well Half-Life 2 will be geting better and better with the updates over steam, by 2007 it will be even better then it is now!!!

HALF-LIFE 2 is the best (until HL3)

Well a 2007 game would be a post-HL2 game. By then rich characters, character interaction, storytelling, etc. may be the norm. Look at how different post-HL1 are from pre-HL1. I choose HL2 though because it took 5 years to make while the 2007 game, if started now, could only take ~3 years; more time for developers means a better game. I also like the HL2 world and have so many questions about it.

well HL3 is probably gonna be the game of the year 2007, so gimme HL2 now and I can wait for the next installment, wouldnt want to break the story and play it outta sequence
