Hl2 or Max Payne 2 movie ??

About the movie deal... How do we know HL2 has a story good enough for a movie. If you ask me, HL1 wouldn't have made a good movie. Not much interaction with people, it'd be like a lame movie like "Asteroid" or something where the whole intent would be just to get out of Black Mesa...no twists...no character development...nothing.

I have only speculation from the leak about what some of the story might be like for HL2, and from what I know, It seems like a better candidate for a movie script...but it's only speculation from bits of info...

As stated before, MP2 practically is a movie. Give those comic strips motion and you have a good film if you ask me. Good setting, character development, good story.

I think HL was great because they started coming up with new ideas on how to structure a dramatic computer game. They came up with a continuous level, breaking levels down by 'action events', using distance to set pace, semiotic hints, using atmosphere and immersion and transitions from one to environment to another.... It's a great computer game (HL2 better) and that's it's only medium. I don't think it could exist as a movie. Plus the story is based on Stephen King's The Mist, written in 1981 (contrary to the Doom ripoff idea). I have to agree that as a premise HL isn't that attractive.
Max Payne also doesn't belong in a movie because it's a parody(almost) of film noir- there are already so many good film noir movies that it seems useless to make one of Max Payne (It's good, but not great by my standards).

If a Half-Life movie were to be made, it would have to seperately follow Gordon, Shepherd and Barney as they go through the Black Mesa in Quentin Tarrantino style (with the timeline altered) - their paths would inevitably cross.

Seriously, all it would take would be a talented writer. Hell, I'd have no trouble writing a novel based on Half-Life. The story elements are already there and so are the designs. Honestly I'd love to see a convincing rendition of Xen on the big screen...

If it ever gets made, it will be a guaranteed piece of poop unfortunately. It'd probably end up being directed by Paul Anderson of Mortal Kombat/Resident Evil fame/infamy.

i think hl is a much better game.....but a max payne movie would appeal to a much wider audiance

Not every difficulty, but maybe the most challenging difficulty the ending changes.

Exactly, when i was playing Max Payne a few yrs back i though this would make a great movie.

look as far as story max payne 2 will allways get better the writers of mp3 really put alot of work to the story as a kid that dident liked mp1 i shoud say that mp2 is a very very good game i finshed it kinda short but still i just love the story and the gameplay and that scream when i shoot does little busterds ^^ in terms of a movie i think gordon will not survive this alien attack ^^

and remmber kids games about movie SUX! etm sucked bad very very bad alot "game movies" are bad because the devlopers got to keep the stroy of the movie but still make the game path not linner and lack of freedom things that gamers looking in gamez...
