I drew a picture of gordons armor and a crowbar hanging on hooks. keep in mind i'm 13 and i did this all without and pictures to help cause i was in school screwing off. (hardly, anything HL2 related is hard to call "screwing off") comments?

It's a good design, you draw very well for your age!

However I think you should start studying depth and proportions, work as hard as you can on it, get a few books or so (not "How To" stuff but real artist anatomy books and such, try to find stuff aimed at beginners). I did it and the training still is proving its worth for me.

Keep up the good work, it's very good to start early! :D

thats pretty dern impressive for 13 years old ;)
better perspective than me

LOL @ your avatar... the drawing is not bad. I draw a lot of HL stuff at school too. Maybe I could post some of it... heres a paint drawing.

lol can't believe someone actually pressed the "Jebus that sucks" option...

tsk tsk tsk

That is pretty good, if you work at it some more Im sure you can make it look better but overall for your age and no referance, its ok.

This sounds so patronising, but for your age that is good and expecially since you were doing it from memory. Heh, i doubt i could remember what the HEV looks like without looking at a picture.

I do however think you could add a little more depth to it. Perhaps even just by shading in either the right or left sides more than the opposite. Its simple but effective....well, when you are drawing something that isn't real anyway. The proportions are also a little off....

At this point i saw crazyharij's post :p

Ehm .. srry! BAD EVIL .. BAD EVIL!

*memories* I should try and dig up the picture I did of Gordon when I was 13. Of course we all gotta start somewhere, and for your age its good. Study some sites that deal with porportion and perspective (even though a drawing like that doesnt really need it) I'm sure you could make quite the artist of yourself.
Heres a good place for learning how to draw:
http://www.polykarbon.com/

its great learning from these sites but the best way is to put it into practice...ie draw lots and keep going. Then you start to develop your own style(s) as well.

One more thing to recommend, don't be afraid to make some of the shading pretty dark. I notice some beginning artists don't shade dark enough in some places.

lol, i can't believe that someone acually pressed the "Jebus That Sucks" option

how could you spell "Jesus" wrong.... thanks for the comment anyway. :D

thanks for the sugestions, I've read all these, and taken your ideas into consideration and I'm working on a picture of gordon unloading his OICW or aSSAULT rifle. you will be able to see my faces and mussle flash in the next one. I'll post it in a new thread for you all to see. it'll be named "Gordon Unloading in Pencil".

Haha, haven't you seen the simpsons where Homer says "saveeeee me Jebus!"? I'm pretty sure he meant to say Jebus ;).

Good luck on your next project though.

Im 13 also but I can draw better too bad my scanner isnt working I would show u guys what I have, nice job though looks pretty ok!

You were "Screwing Off" at school??? That sounds really dodgy :dozey:

I voted "Jesus Christ That Sucks" because it is really bad. I don't want to be mean, I just want to tell the truth. I am 13 too!

sicko... :| also i drew that in bout 10 mins but i prob. should've taken more time on it

hey, yeah...i wont say what i voted, but you really need to work on your proportions, and generally need to look around you more.

for instance, your suits fingers are all the same length, well almost everybody know that they're not, and youve got a pair of hands infront of you to look at. i mean i can understand slight problems with getting proportion right, but your elbows are at your hips, and your hands are at your knees. just things like that, which are that easy to find out whether theyre right or not should be where you pay attention. just draw quick sketch after quick sketch of people, trying to get their proportions right.

if you look you will see that the fingers are all the correct length for a man. (men and women have different finger sizes) but thanks for all the suggestions

all the fingers are sized correctly on the left hand (the right hand, your left) and not on the right i just noticed that :D
