Dunno if its talked about already but when i check my HL2 preload status, it sais Preloading is Complete.

How do i see what i've downloaded? where was it preloaded to?

It used to say "A locked copy of Half-Life 2 is now on your computer. Pre-order the game now and play it immediately after it's officially released!"

Now it says "Half Life 2 Pre-Loading is complete. When the game is officially released, you'll be able to play it immediately."

How do i see what i've downloaded? where was it preloaded to?

When you go into your @email.com folder in steam, theres a list of all your games in .gcf's or something. In there should be 'source shared files' 'source sound' and stuff, Those files are all your pre-loads.
