maybe it preloads for random people. If they started the preload for everyone all at once, the steam network might fail. maybe it randomly selects someone to preload and does it.

This sounds like a bunch of hoo-ha. I haven't started Preloading HL2 yet. And to my understanding, everyone will be able to, not just those ATI Coupon people. You know, I was so close to getting an ATI coupon! When I was building my computer, I was picking up the parts, but they were all sold out of ATI Radeon 9600XTs, so I had to get a Sapphire Radeon 9600XT. It's the same thing, I know, but my Sapphire did not come with an ATI coupon! Those bums. I settled for it, because the Sapphire was about $30 less than the ATI. I figured, hey, thats $30 off Half-Life 2! But, little did I know that there were benefits for people who had that coupon... What a bummer, eh?
