HL2 problem

I got the game from my brother, it loaded ok. I played then saved the game. When I loaded the save, the monsters were frozen. They just stand there. I can move around and kill them but they never move except to fall down if I kill them.

Is there some setting I need to do?

Yes steam installed when I installed the game. I haven't used steam, don't really know how.

I didn't buy the game I got it from my brother, he bought it. If that makes me a pirate, than I guess I am.

One things for sure, if all their games work as bad as this one I will never buy any of their games.

I found out what I was doing wrong. I only have the Half-Life 2 Collector's Edition disk with no instructions. My brother lost them.

I was starting the game with hl2.exe. This was wrong, I tried starting with Launcher.exe and everything works fine. The save games work ok now. The launcher gives me the option of starting 4 different games.

omfg you take wtf to a new level. "launcher.exe" sounds like an illegal steam emulator type thing, especially as nothing like that comes with the real game, and steam.exe is what you would actually need. you just hung yourself. its just a pity you got it working tbh. i hope you get the AI problems and/or a mod here sends your IP to valve or something and bans you.

you guys are all retards, especially stewie, dude he runs it manually, not through steam, appanently, so that means that launcher.exe would work "LEGALLY" cause he has a collectors edition. so that makes it work right. but i think that your doing it the hard way, amberjean, cause the ai could have been disabled, use the command:
ai_disable 0
in the console, and the ai should turn back on, it was prabably off.

no, you dont need stem to run it, its just easier, and reccomended, it runs fine from the icon, remember icons? they were on your desktop and you clicked em and the game runs WITHOUT steam? *GASP* i know steam is great, but its not the only way to possibly play.

ummm......wrong, it doesnt matter if you click the icon or click the icon in steam. it still has to run through steam for it be LEGAL!!!

the first batch of half life didnt need steam because it just ran off the disc but im sure there are no copies of hl2 that cant run off steam that are legal.

Look either way you need steam to run the game. Try opening Steam and clicking on Half Life 2 and see if that works, k?

If that doesn't work. then trying looking on the Steam forums for help as well!

AND If that doesn't work then you don't have the "true" HL2 game

so STFU with all of your neg. insults to one another!

that's exactly what happens with a pirate copy. but of course, you have a "bought" copy - so verify your game cache with steam...

I had thought that steam was only if you wanted to play online. Since I registered with steam and started using it to start the game it works fine.

Finished the game and am waiting for an orange box from amazon.com so I can get episode one and two, should arrive today or tomorrow.

Thanks to those that helped sour grapes to those that only wanted to accuse me of being a pirate and a guy. I am female.
