Hi, is my pc good enough to run HL2 on MAX settings you think?

AMD Athlon XP 3200+

1GB PC3200 DDR RAM

160GB Hard Drive

Geforce FX 5900XT 128mb DDR video card

So what settings do you predict it will run on, and how many FPS you think I'll be getting? I know nobody can know this for sure and it's all just guessing, but It will most likely give me a fair idea. HL2 is gonna rock!!!!!!

wrong forum dude, use the Hardware forum in future. They have a huge thread on your very question.
And welcome to the forums :)

With a GeForce FX? Max settings? Hahahahahahahahahhahahaaaa. No.

As much as I love NVidia, there's no denying that the entire FX range sucks at DX9 shaders, period. The 5900 is still meaty, mind, so you have a fighting chance, but I doubt you'll be comfortably over the 30fps mark at times on full settings if you want AA and AF.

Wrong forum, plus HL2 isn't released so how would we know? Closest answer you'll get is the CS Source beta video stress test.

**** people, it's his first post, give him some slack.

My advice, sell your Nvidia (if you can :) and by a 9800Pro, which are becoming cheap due to the higher availability of the X800. The rest of your spects are great, and with a 9800 pro you'll be able to pull of high and some AA/AF (depending on what framerate you're shooting at).

I'm afraid we don't allow these types of threads.

We've had far too many :)

In fact, in future, PM me :E
