HL2 Stuck

Hi all

I have just entered chapter 13 Our benefactors and have killed all the combines etc but i cant get in to the room where the beam is!!! there seems to be force fields up and i cant find the way through.

Jump that handrail, go forward into the room with the strange beam in the middle, kill some swine, and I burlieve you take the right hand path out of that room, iirc. There might be some switch to flick in that room or s/th.

So there's an invisible barrier where there shouldn't be?

Try restarting that chapter and play through it again, sometimes that fixes odd glitches like that.

OH YEAH. Naudian's right. I remember vaguely that sometimes there are weird glitches on that level that screw up your POV, stop you from jumping, etc. You need to start from the beginning of the chapter, which is not far to go back. That handrail is definitely jumpable.

Ok here is what i did.. I pulled a console off the wall turned it over and clinmed up it and then over... bingo.. Niw just going through the rest.

hmm... Admirable initiative but you could run into more problems if you can't jump properly. If you can make it to the next load, then it might sort itself out.

Yea got through that... and now at the very end... But as usual being pants at this i am stuck again.. i am trying to destroy the core and cant seem to do the last bit. I have gone round the outside and cant get to the core without falling off the floating blocks!!!! any thoughts?

You're not supposed to jump into it. Get to the top.

I think i have got up as far as i can but i am at a platform by the spinney block things. (tech term NOT) Where do i go from there??

Get on the spinny block things and ride them upward. At various points they'll stop and you can get on catwalks on the central tower or walkways around the walls.

I really hope he can make the jumps and that his jumping isn't still screwed.

Try crouch-jumping if you're having trouble (if you don't know, that's jumping and then crouching in mid air - played a big role in HL1, but they never really explained how to do it in HL2).

That jumping problem is not going to go away at this point. If you really can't get anywhere with it, try this:

1) Enable the console (it's in the Options somewhere, maybe 'Enable developer's console' under keyboard options).
2) bring up the console with the tilde key (top left key for me, under escape) - sorry if you already know how to bring up the console.
3) enter the following commands:
sv_cheats 1
noclip

With noclip on you can just fly to whatever platforms are giving you difficulty. Use the 'noclip' command again to turn it off. Once the dodgy jumps are out of the way, go back to playing normally and then enjoy the finale in time for Episode 1.

Did you get noclip to work? Then you can use the directional keys(WASD)to fly around. Should be a snap. keep at it!

I think i entered it ok. Its just i had no flying capabilities.. lol..

Did you do everything Laivasse said above? Enabled the console, brought up the console, typed the 2 commands?

You could always redo the whole level. So that the jumping bug wont come at all... "our benefactors" being is one of the easier levels ..

I think this is a problem faced by many! if you jump or hit jump in the part where you lose your weapons, you can neva jump again apparently. This is what happens to me all the time in that lvl.
