Ok, so, Half-life 2 runs smoothly with a 9800 pro and 512 mb ram and and amd XP2600+, until today when it chose to seriously **** up.
First time I load a map it works but when I load the second time all the textures screw up, a window will get covered in white, the ground will have brightly coloured stripes in it etc, once I got a reaaaaaally weird g-man covered in squares in the intro

Sane problem here, before patch all well and groovy but this morning *shudder*

Anywho I am experiencing probems with missing textures. Im just getting a whole load of wire mesh in place of water and pipes, and some ground too.

Any help or information would be greatly apreciated

There are checks that can be run on HL2 for missing textures and weird effects. The check things are here.

Also, the patch involved add a command and this at the official help thing says how to switch it off by changing the value to 0.

I also had a kind of square-textured g-man at the start. If you have a Radeon 9X00, do this, it will surely help.

Download the newest ATI Catalyst Drivers WITH Catalyst Control Center. When you have installed them, open the Catalyst Control Center and choose "Catalyst A.I." from the left menu. Disable it and the game works fine! (at least for me)

EDIT: Oops, you had 9800. I didn't look closely :) this will help then, I think.

Didn't work for me.. Which one of the three things in that list do you have checked right now?
