I've not seen this answered anywhere.. I've seen the basic requirements for HL2.. but are Windows 98 or ME supported? Or are only Windows 2000 and XP supported?

I know that My Little Pony can run on ME! Maybe HL2 will work too??!

For a real answer: it supposedly should... source

Why dun u just install Win2000 or WinXp? They're better than Win98 or ME anyway...

I have a Windows 98/XP dual boot and decided to try it on Win98......it worked but it crashed every other time I tried to run it causing me to have to reboot my PC.

It has never crashed to desktop or otherwise when using XP but your mileage may vary.

I play Counter-Strike:Source and i'm on a windows 98 machine (It never crashes). I guess hl2 will be okay too.

I cant believe anyone still has a computer running 98 and working. I couldnt keep mine going for more than a few months.

win 2000, and xp are cheap now if you buy oem. I really dont see a reason to be running 98. I think you can get 2000 oem on ebay for like $20.

Although I wouldnt really update now longhorn is suppose to be comming out really soon. Might as well update to the newest version.

Oh, no...no way I'm going to Longhorn. If the rumors are correct, Longhorn will NOT be backwards compatable with previous versions of Windows. I've got WAY too many older games that would end up as drink coasters if I went that way.

that would be too incredibly stupid for words if no older products worked on longhorn. I don't think even MS is stupid enough to do that.

Longhorn will discourage backward compatibility with older Windows software. MS wants you to start the slate clean, and buy everything again new. Nice way to try and scam us out of more money.

On one hand there are whiners complaining about security flaws through compatibility, on the other hand there are the same whiners complaining about removing compatibility.

When you always feel like that how will Microsoft ever do anything right?

"It would be cool if they added anti-virus to Windows, cause if they do... *Shakes fist*"

Longhorn should just be called Mac OS 11, that's basically what it's trying to be.

I still have Windows 98 and its working like a charm..... apart from the few Windows System Errors at startup.......that occur only once a day....

Don't worry, I won't be touching Longhorn with a ten-foot pole if I can help it. Problem solved.

And I'm not whining, just making an observation. You want to buy all new software? Go right ahead.

I have a very old laptop(still works) with windows 3.1 on it.
Sometimes its fun just to play doom and lemmings the way they were meant to be played :)

Who in their right mind would purposely run Windows:ME?!

You'd think everyone would have Windows XP these days...:p
