I'm pretty sick and stuck at home at the moment, so I thought I'd take a break from playing round after round of dod_flash and do something half-productive.
So this is me mucking around with HL2_song32. Please excuse the poor mix and mastering, Cubase has just packed up and I'll be damned if I can get my Waves plugins to work in Sony Acid, the whole thing isn't even normalized :p

All the content is mine, only one loop is used (the backdrop beat at the beginning, which is so heavily processed and chopped it's unrecognisable), so it's original work, albeit roughly produced.

Anyway, it's only short, give it a listen :)

(EDIT: replaced the old version with a slightly-better-mixed equivalent)

Made my feet tap. Is that all of it, or is there more?

I didn't want to draw it out, the original track is only 42 seconds :) Plus there's nothing worse than a reasonable idea recycled over and over

damn thats pretty cool. how did you add the drums? is a loop of the net or did you actually play them?

that was really good actually - great intro into an edgy electro rock song

Heh, no loops off the net, I sample a lot of single hits from songs and use sample libraries. The beat is entirely original. I've just uploaded a newer version, the bass was a bit funny in the last :O

ah well totally kick ass(im listening to it for the 10th time). Do you think you might consider letting me use this for a map pack?

Sure, just put me in the credits or something.

nice sounds :)

bass takes too much headspace i think. but its nice for a short track idea. would've liked to see more development around the idea.. the synth isn't hard to replicate, maybe you should try doing something with the sounds. the part where you change key feels very hiphop but out of key. nice glitch stuff :)

for sure. Can i download it from the putfile.com or how can i get it? oh and and idea is sampling the combine alert counds.

That makes sense, I'm mixing through PC speakers at the moment, the left channel of my amp is on the blink. I have no bottom end D: in retrospect I should have given it a listen through just the one to check the balance, but I can't be bothered wiring it all up until I get my new pot.

I thought about replicating the synth, but the whole idea was remix, and unless you both rewrote and resampled the parts you wouldn't get that 'sampled' effect. The key change isn't a key change, I'm reasonably sure it's the fifth of the root, but yeah it does sound weird and hiphop-stylee, I like the feel of it :)

As for glitch stuff, gah Aphex Twin *explodes* but I do enjoy it, heh

I'm not sure you can download from putfile, give me your addy and I'll send it. Not sure what you mean about sampling combine alert sounds, do elaborate :)

Really nice man :D I'm a sucker for nice drum beats, that was awesome.

i mean get the sounds of the combine warning each other in there wierd radio voice and you could stick it in there. my aim is immedamnit14

Use a spectrum analyser (soundforge has a good one).

You can. Right click the player, properties, copy the file address and paste it in the address bar. The address of your file is x100.putfile.com/videos/c5-6612270121.mp3

Well im using opera, not internet explorer. If you dont want to switch to a better browser you can find the link in the source code of the page, near the middle:

<embed type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage="http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/MediaPlayer/" name="mediaplayer1" showstatusbar="1" EnableContextMenu="false" autostart="true" transparentstart="1" loop="0" controller="true" src="http://x100.putfile.com/videos/c5-6612270121.mp3"></embed>

dont click the link or they might remove the file.. paste it into the address bar

You think I didn't think of that? :p Like I said, cubase (with my waves mastering kit, which includes spectrum analysis) has packed up. Although no doubt there's a free DX plugin floating around, I'll have a look on KVR.

Besides that, what did you think? I won't get better without some constructive criticism :)

Well its pretty good musically. Nothing obviously wrong with it. I would have more to comment on if you had used your own synth sounds and made it longer. You could even keep the sampled pad but add a lead and stuff to it.
Technically though your levels are not good and its clipping all over the place.
edit: why is he banned?
