will the bushes trees and shrubs have nice particle effects and be shaded and such ( dont know much about this stuff) but will it look nice and not stupid like in most recent games I dont want no doom lookin trees anymore im really sick of em

Well clearly it is a question, but he forgot the question mark. Why? Where's your capital letters?
 
I like gabes idea of there being moss in the game.....
I actually havent seen that many trees and such in HL2 so far...maybe I'm blind...maybe there arent none lol.
But I would have to say, the trees will look great...might even splinter like proper trees if you blew them up!

considering the enviorments in pacific assault you think they would have actually worked on makeing them look nice.... hl2's will look better I KNOW that

There are no trees (ones that are alive anyway) because there is hardly any water left on the planet.
 
hardly any water left..... this is half-life not dune wheres your proof
 
the best foliage i've seen so far is in vietcong, was really well done.

I'm sure a good modeller and skinner could pull off foliage easily in source.

The grass in the docks scene looked nice on the cam vid. Cant wait untill the top quality dock scene vid
 
uhh docks was released on steam d00d.... but what I dont get is why no modern game developers actually try for good looking foliage (vietcong would be my only exeption wow it looks nice)

OK! I admit the trees could be dead.....but then everyone would be dead, because we need trees to give us our oxygen......unless they've got oxygen machines somewhere! lol
 
hmm seems there just might be a water shortage after all hahha also... I more meant first person shooters when I said modern devs dont make good foliage gfx I mean take a look at one of the new resident evils or one of the devil may crys
 
And, we need beer to survive, and I saw no beer in any of the videos so far! lol

BTW, some of the foliage in the Stalker shot looks 2D to me. Is it just me?
 
Unreal Tournament 2003's foliage was pretty impressive.
But, some foliage I've seen (Like in SoF II) , they have thin plants that ALWAYS face you no matter where you turn.
 
I saw plenty of trees in the docks video, they all looked really nice too.
 
yeah, stalker looks like everything is just a blurry 2d image

acually we dont

plants in the ocean make over 90% of the oxygen.


also HL2 takes place on a earth that is being harvested by the combines machines
 
this is an eastern europian city, the trees in the vid with leaves are evergreens, pines etc, the trees without are not, it is probbally some time in the winter, maybe january.
 
If the planet is more or less completely dried-up, how come there's water in the Docks vid? :)
