Frankly, I don't play games for their stories, but for their technical prowess, being a programmer myself. I think in terms of visuals, the Doom 3 engine is superior, but in terms of physics, Havok is superior.
well i havent played havok so i dont know about that... but i found Doom3 to be ok... however i found the lighting ( even though most of the game lacked light ) was beautiful... but objects and such seemed to me to be very plastic like and lack texture. the card board boxes seemed to be wraped in plastic wrap or something...
Both Halo games have terrible stories :\.
WTF?! ok... I quickly got bord of doom. and Halo 2s story was serverly lacking... i guess everything... Half life 2 didnt win GOTY for nothing.

D3 fast action? I don't think D3 sucks because of the story. I always thought D3's story was decent for an ID game. It was the complete lack of gameplay and the shadows being the most noteworthy thing about the game that made it suck for me.fast action (and relatively simple) shooters
I mean that if he didn't get the HL2 story, he'll be totally clueless with the MP story, as you have to scan/read a lot of it to understand what is going on.
OMG.....don't let that guy near any of the Metroid Prime games.
In the previous games, we could actually see the monsters :|Look, everyone, there's no point in bashing Doom 3 because of its story, simply because id Software have never really bothered with storytelling, they've just concentrated on producing the most technically accomplished fast action (and relatively simple) shooters that have made their name.
I confess myself amazed at the original poster's inability to infer anything from the story, and to miss everything that had been said in the game by other characters... the reason for Gordon going to Kleiner and to Eli is given. The reason for Ravenholm being full of headcrabs isn't given, but is obvious.
