Holy crap, this is the most awesomest thing I've ever seen.

It's actually "Google Earth" :p

Crush showed this to me yesterday. I was hooked for the rest of the night. So many things to find and see. And then you can turn on elevation, where you actually see mountains and valleys, and rotate the camera to any angle... Then you turn on 3D buildings, and take a look at the big cities. Hours upon hours of time spent exploring. Has MANY other features as well.

A+ program, really.

I was gonna try this the other day, but that page said something about it not being available even though people had already downloaded it.

I also noticed that google maps updated to include the UK at least, maybe elsewhere too.

Downloading...

Only the major cities show 3D buildings? I'm having fun searching for area 51:E

I also found some weird stuff. Is there anyway I can save the pictures?

Printscreen + Ctrl-V in MS Paint?

This is like, the best thing ever.

What gets me is the speed of it. It's so freakin' fast!

Mmmmkay, how do I turn on the 3D buildings?
It's under the Layers panel on the bottom left. Only enables it on big cities. Click the folder next to the check box to view a list of these cities.

those are used for irrigation, if you look they are all over that part of the US. i even saw some via the air when i went to san diego.

if you want to know, the supposed area 51 installation is located a place called emigrant valley, a few miles east of rachel, nevada. its longitude/latitude are

37"17'07.60 N 115"49'37.39" W

its 4.5k feet above sea level. screenshot is attached.

Sure... sure... Riiight. And I found the atlantic ocean all by myself too.

The resolution of the photos is so strange sometimes.

For instance: Kabul, Afghanistan is amazingly sharp but a place like Lawrence, Kansas is blurry as hell.

Incase you haven't noticed, it's because these are different shots taken by different sattelites (sp?)

Bigger cities would naturally have higher res, as they are more important. Or well known.

Yeah, I know that.

I just thought they would have the entire US in super sharp res before they got to a place like Kabul.....but you never know.

My coordinates are 53.1312041795, 8.22100999052 :) too blurry to find my houses, though.

Brighton has small resolution. In fact, is it just me or do they only have 3D buildings for US cities? Hong Kong didn't have em'.
